Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water Review

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I'm trying to get into the routine of blogging again, but it feels harder than a few years back. The mood just isn't there anymore, sometimes. However, it does come once in a while, the blogging mood. So, still gonna be keeping this blog for a while longer, I guess. Anyway, let's just start with the review, shall we?

Continuing the trend of cleansing water or micellar water, Garnier launched their own version late last year. It was almost always sold out in most supermarkets near me, so I couldn't review it fast enough. By the time I'm typing this, it's probably old news, but hey, as long as it's out there, right?

The micellar water comes in a clear bottle that has 125 ml of clear, water like liquid. The product information is printed on a clear sticker and pasted on the front and back side of the bottle. It has a flip top cap that is sealed with plastic, indicating its brand new status.

The ingredients for this micellar water is surprisingly short. It has hexylene glycol and disodium EDTA that could be either for maintaining the viscosity of a product or a preservative. Glycerin is used as a humectant to help draw moisture from the environment to the skin, so it won't be too drying. Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate and Poloxamer 184 acts as a surfactant, whereas Polyaminopropyl Biguanide is the preservative. To be honest, it's quite surprising for Garnier not be full of Fragrance.
L-R : Dolly Wink Eyeliner, Apieu x Doraemon lip tint, Witch's Pouch Selfie Concealer, Emina Cheek and lip tint, BLP lip cream

With a consistency similar to water, you would need to pour it on a cotton pad before using it to remove makeup from your face. It doesn't have any bad or strong scent while wiping my face. I tested the micellar water against some of my commonly used makeup items. Concealer, lip tint, eyeliner, cheek tint, and a lip cream are the ones I chose. As you can see, it's mostly liquid or cream product.
All clean, even though there is slight redness because I scrubbed too hard ^_^;;

You need to hold it for a few seconds before swiping it clean. Sure, you can use your cotton pad and sort of 'scrub' your face with a back and forth motion, but that would tug your skin harshly, so I would avoid that. As you can see from the picture above, its cleansing ability is quite good, nearly removing all of the stubborn lip tint without any sticky residue on the skin. As with most micellar water, you don't need to rinse your face with water afterwards.

Overall, I think this is a great product from the drugstore if you're in search for a cleansing water or micellar water. It's fragrance free and alcohol free, which is a bit uncommon for drugstore products. Although I read that the other variant (blue cap) has denatured alcohol in the ingredients, so there's that difference. Unfortunately, my skin doesn't agree with this micellar cleansing water because I noticed a few acne on my forehead a few days after I started using it. Well, back to the other one, I guess.

Have you tried this micellar water from Garnier? Let me know in the comments below and until then, I'll see you later~

  1. Love the blue one. It makes me wanna try hihi

  2. I enjoy this product! Even though I have to triple cleanse on most days, (I use this as my initial cleanse step) but it gets the job done for the price. I'm sorry it didn't work for you. Are you going to make DOAPJ award this year? Have a great day dear!

    1. Hi, Rizky~ I'm sorry I just replied your comment. I haven't really been trying a lot of beauty products during 2017, so there won't be any DOAPJ award~ I'll try to make one this year, though ~ Thanks for commenting~ ^_^

  3. I love reading your blog :) Please do a review on Catrice products, I tried the liquid concealer and it works really great. I'm wondering if their other products are as good as the concealer :D

    1. Hi, makeit bitter~ I've tried a couple of Catrice products back in 2013, I think. I'll try more of their products if I can~ ^_^
