B&SOAP Apate Black Fresh Wash Off Pack ReviewMonday, January 02, 2017
Hello, lovelies~ Wow. I haven't blogged in a while, have I? Let's just say that I haven't had the mood to sit still and type away all of my thoughts. However, it's back now, so I'm gonna start blogging again. Possibly starting with skincare products because there is a lot of them lining up to be reviewed.
Just to refresh your memory, my skin type is combination skin, with an very oily T-zone and normal, but sometimes dry U zone. I'll start with a wash off mask pack from B&SOAP, which have an almost similar packaging theme to LUSH.
This mask comes in a black box with all the information printed on it in Korean. I can't read it, so I may have to find the ingredients from another website. It is packaged in a black tub with a twist off lid on top, making it quite a secure packaging. The tub itself is quite sturdy in a way that it is able to withstand an accidental fall from my vanity table.
The ingredients are written in Korean, so I have to search the web for the translated version. I got it from nattacosme.com.
Water, Kaolin, Glycerin, Diatomaceous Earth, Bentonite, Charcoal Powder, Volcanic Ash, Trehalos Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Marine Collagen, Caulerpa Lentillifera Extract, Xanthan Gum, Olive Oil, Phenoxyethanol, 1,2-Hexanediol, CaprylylGlycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Allantoin, Fragrance.
This mask contains a blend of oil-absorbing clay such as Kaolin, Diatomaceous Earth, Bentonite, and Volcanic Ash. Not sure what the Charcoal Powder is for, but it made the mask look black, lol. A few moisturizers like Glycerin, Trehalos Extract, Hyaluronic Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin, and Marine Collagen is also present as not to make it too drying. Xanthan Gum acts a a substance to control the viscosity of the product, so it can maintain the thickness. Olive oil and Caulerpa Lentillifera Extract are the plant extracts that are present. Those sensitive to olive oil may want to avoid this or use with caution. It uses Phenoxyethanol as a preservative instead of parabens. Allantoin acts as (probably) anti inflammatory, but it is situated at the second to last ingredients, so I'm not sure that it would have much effect on reducing any redness or irritation. Fragrance is present, but it is the last ingredient, so I doubt it can cause any irritation with the amount present.
It comes with a small, white, plastic spatula that will make scooping the mask a lot easier instead of having to find a separate spoon from somewhere in the house. The spatula is easy to clean, too. I usually just rinse it immediately after applying the mask evenly on my face.
As with most clay mask, I applied it on my clean, dry face with my fingers. It wasn't too hard to apply it evenly. There is a scent , but it isn't too offensive for my preference.
As marvellous as this face mask sounds in terms of removing your blackheads, sebum and other 'skin waste' (whatever that means), it doesn't easily remove your blackheads as such. It does 'strip off' the excess oil on your face, leaving it feeling fresh with just enough moisture. Of course, this applies to those with oily to very oily skin type, like myself. I couldn't imagine what would happen to someone with a dry skin type after using this mask.
I use this mask three times a week or on a day when my skin is feeling very oily that I can probably fry an egg on top of it, lol. Sure, it has the same effect as washing my face, but this gives me a sense of tranquility and me time. I use it for 10-15 minutes or until it is half dry and I wash it off with lukewarm water. After that, I just proceed with my skincare routine. Serum, moisturizer and the likes.
Overall, it is a practical mask that helps to control any excess oil you may have should you have an oily to very oily skin type. I do feel that I rarely have acne since using it routinely. It's one of those no-nonsense mask that simply does its job of reducing any of those acne-potential oils on the surface of your skin.
