Miss Luna Hyaluronic & Snail Mucous Face Mask Review

Wednesday, March 30, 2016

“Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ On days when I feel down and need an instant soothing feeling, I almost always turn to face masks. It is able to make me feel relaxed and calm within seconds of using it. I usually lie down and listen to my favorite songs, hence the feeling of calm is achieved, melting away all my worries for another day.

In this blog post, I want to share my experience using two face masks from Miss Luna. I was given the opportunity to try out two of their face masks, namely Hyaluronic Acid and Snail Mucus face mask.

The packaging is just too cute since it color coordinates with the ingredient inside. For instance, hyaluronic acid gets a light blue color that is easy on the eyes. The logo of the brand is a fairy sitting on a crescent moon. Cute! Enough about the packaging, let’s take a look see what’s inside this mask.

Both face masks contains Alcohol, which my skin is usually fussy about, but (luckily) it didn't provoke any bad reaction this time. *phew*

It didn't use parabens as preservatives, so this may be an option for those trying to avoid parabens in their skincare routine. There is snail secretion and hyaluronic acid inside the masks, not just lip service. For those with sensitive skin, it contains fragrance.

The sheet mask comes with lots of essence that it is dripping out when I open the seal. Always a good thing, especially if you’re one of those people who like applying the extra essence on your arms and legs. *guilty*

The texture of the sheet mask is soft with a thin plastic on top to make it easier to place the mask on your face. Sometimes in sheet masks that has no plastic makes it hard for me to unfold and place the mask on my face.

Using this is pretty self explanatory. Open the packet, unfold the mask, and put it on your face. Adjust if necessary. However, the mask would be a better fit if there were tiny slits on the sides of the mask. Fret not, it's easy to tear the edges a bit to make those slits.

As with most face masks, it does give an instant boost in terms of moisture and brightening. My face feels more supple and looks brighter. Fortunately, it doesn’t break me out despite using the one that is moisturizing. Usually sheet mask for moisture with lots of essence will almost always leave me with a zit or two.

Overall, I like the Hyaluronic Acid version since it moisturizes my skin just right. It doesn't over moisturize my face, which usually causes acne. There isn't any strong scent while putting it on, despite the fragrance. For Rp 20,000, it is worth to buy if you don't have any problems with alcohol or fragrance.

What do you think? Have you tried this face mask before? Let me know what you think about it. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~

Luview Real Skin Primer BB Cream Review & Swatch

Monday, March 28, 2016

Hello, lovelies~ It has been a few years since BB cream was first introduced into the beauty industry, but it sure hasn’t decreased in popularity. They come in a variety of shapes; squeeze tubes, pumps, even cushions that are notoriously famous nowadays. BB creams are still so popular that it has its own primer. AwanAwan is generous to send me one to try and share my experience with you all.

Luview Real Skin Primer BB Cream comes in a pink box that is inscribed with the complete product information along with the ingredients list. Inside the pink box, is a pink squeeze tube with a twist off cap at the end to dispense the product.

On the side of the box is the list of ingredients for this primer. Alcohol is listed quite high up with titanium dioxide and the silicone family, luckily it didn't break me out. It has talc and mica that helps to control the excess oil present on the skin. It uses parabens for preservatives, methylparaben being one of them. The primer contains fragrance, which may be a problem for those with sensitive skin.

The primer has an almost similar consistency to that of a toothpaste, but slightly less thicker. It doesn’t, however, stop it from being a hard-to-blend product on my face. I just need to glide it on my face with my bare fingers. Clean, of course.

What I instantly see is the diminished discoloration on my face as there are no more uneven skin tones or redness on my cheeks. My face looks brighter, slight ghastly white like their predecessors. I use this after my sunscreen application and before foundation or BB cream, but sometimes just on its own. Oh, and just so you know it does have a slight grey tint. Maybe this is what help neutralize the redness I have on my cheeks.

Once evenly applied all over my face, the primer gives a semi matte finish, which makes it look a little more ‘skin-like’. It still has a hint of stickiness, but nothing that would bother me to my wits end. The oil control lasted around 3 hours on me in a cool environment, with air conditioner.

Overall, I like applying it n the center of my face, blending outwards to get that naturally bright look on my face since there won't be obvious lines around my jaw. It gives my face a smooth appearance, with smaller-looking pores.

What about you? Have you tried this BB Cream primer before? Let me know in the comments below what you think about it. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~

Missha x LINE FRIENDS Matte Lipstick Swatch and Review

Monday, March 14, 2016

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I’m sure most of you are familiar with the chatting app called LINE. You know, the fun app where it lets you use stickers in place of ordinary emoticons or emojis? They even have their own characters called Brown, Cony and Sally. There are others, but I only remember those three. Well, Missha collaborated with LINE FRIENDS to create one of (possibly) the cutest makeup LINE (pun intended) to come out in 2016.

I couldn’t resist the packaging, so I placed an order from a few online shops here in Indonesia and got a few items. I managed to purchase a BB cushion, a matte lipstick, and a lip tint. They will all be reviewed in due time, but here comes the first one. I present to you, the Brown Matte Lipstick. Brown is the name of the bear, btw.

The lipstick came in a separate brown box with Brown’s face on it, looking all cute. Technically, that’s all of the expression he ever makes. I haven’t thrown away the box like I usually would with ordinary lipstick because of it. Inside the box is a lipstick with (yet another) Brown’s face on the bottom half of the lipstick case, while the upper half is clear.

The lipstick bullet has a rounded tip, which makes it slightly tricky for my when applying it to my lips. I prefer the pointy tip, to help make application cleaner and more precise.

The shade I bought is Salsa Red, a reddish orange shade with a hint of brown tone. It falls under my category of ‘lipsticks that are too peach/orange for me’. Shades like that usually looks good on my mom, so off it goes to her after this swatch session.

As the name implies, it does look and feel matte, but it doesn’t dry out my lips as badly as other matte lipsticks. It applies smoothly without sinking into the cracks of my lips, but I do advise you to exfoliate your lips before applying any matte lipsticks. It just looks better and you won’t have to worry about it looking crackly once you’re finished applying. Also, it has SPF 17.

The longevity of this lipstick is average compared other matte lipsticks, as in, it disappears slightly after a meal. It doesn’t leave a stain on the edge of a drinking glass a few minutes after application. Overall, it is an interesting lipstick formula that doesn't dry out my lips. Unfortunately, the shade doesn't match me. The price is quite steep (Rp 197,000), probably due to the collaboration with LINE.

What about you? Have you tried this lipstick from the Missha x LINE FRIENDS collection? Let me know what you think about it in the comments below. Thanks for reading, and until then, I'll see you later~

Wardah Sun Care Sunscreen Gel SPF 30 Review

Monday, March 07, 2016

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ If you have been reading my blog for quite some time, you will have known by now that I am a skincare junkie. To be more precise, a sunscreen enthusiast. I would do anything to keep those deadly UV rays off my face. I have a sunscreen review for you that is from a local brand called Wardah.

The sunscreen comes in a separate box that has all of the information about the product. The expiry date is imprinted on the squeeze tube, instead of the box. I like this part because I won’t have to keep referring to the box when the sunscreen will expire. Unfortunately, I no longer have the box, so I couldn't show you how it looks like. :(

It uses a chemical type sunscreen ( to ward off any UV rays that are harmful to our skin. Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate and 4-methylbenzylidene camphor protects the skin from UVB rays. Butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, on the other hand, protects the skin from aging UVA rays. It uses parabens as preservatives. Dimethicone and cyclopentasiloxane is added to the mix to give a silky smooth finish without a heavy sticky residue. There are still fragrance in this sunscreen, so sensitive skin may need to be aware of it.

It has quite a thick consistency, but blends out easily when spread all over the face. The sunscreen doesn’t leave a heavy or overly sticky residue once applied evenly. It doesn’t give a white cast or mask that you get with thick sunscreens.

Despite it being marketed as a gel that is targeted for people with oily skin, it doesn’t give a matte finish or hold excess oil well. Within an hour, my face is already looking shiny, ready to be wiped off with a blotting sheet. I usually dust a bit of mattifying powder on top to hold off my excess oil for a little while longer.

Overall, this affordable sunscreen may be an option for you who are looking for a sunscreen with a moderate rating of SPF for daily use. I think it would suit those with combination-dry skin, but do take caution in that it won’t be extremely moisturizing for the dry areas on your face.

What do you think of this oldie but goodie from Wardah? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below. Thanks for reading, and until then, I'll see you later~
