Saboon Soap Bars Serene Breeze & Coconut Milk & Honey Review

Monday, September 26, 2016

“Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Who still uses soap or body wash in a bar form? *raises own hand* Yup, I still prefer bar soap compared to liquid because I feel cleaner and I can get foam in every nook and cranny of my skin. So excited to find out a new shop that makes soap bars. Please welcome, SABOON.ID!

The soap bar is packaged individually in a geometric patterned paper that is then sealed with kraft paper with detailed information of the product. I love the packaging, probably because I’m into geometric shapes at the moment, lol. Each soap weighs differently, but they’re roughly around 70-100 grams.

Nichijou: Popcon Asia 2016

Monday, September 12, 2016

Hello, lovelies~ A few weeks ago, G and I were feeling adventurous and decided to go to Popcon Asia. It was held at Jakarta Convention Center for three whole days. We don’t usually go to these types of events, but I (kinda) begged him to because one of my friends is the exhibitor. Shout out to Stephanie (@cstefanie)! It didn’t took him long to agree, so off we go.

I was super excited that I made plans to go to which booth before the event started. Unfortunately, we went on the second day because the first day was a Friday. Saturday came and I woke him up early, so we won’t have to queue too long to get into the venue. There weren’t much traffic and parking was easy because we arrived around 9:45-ish. However, the queue was already quite long, but we waited and prevailed!

As soon as we got our entrance tickets, we took a picture in front of the big-screen-type-thing-with-the-popcon-logo. I even brought my monopod, so that we can take selfies without having to bother other people. Yes, I am that prepared, lol.

COSRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner Review

Monday, September 05, 2016

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ If you have oily skin like mine, you probably know that BHA is one of your best friends in combatting those awful acne. I haven’t used BHA ever since I started on retinoic acid, which is around 4 years ago. Since I am currently off retinoic acid, I started using BHA again in a toner form.

I haven’t heard of this brand before, but thought I would just try it out. I bought it from Nihonmart when they were having a promotion. It costs Rp 157,000 for 150 ml of product. It came in a separate white box that looks minimalist with all of the product information and ingredients printed on the sides.

THE SAEM NATURAL CONDITION FRESH CLEANSING OIL REVIEW

Monday, August 22, 2016

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I have been one of the believers of a double cleansing method using cleansing oil. Sure, I was skeptical at first because of my very oily skin, but I tried it and didn’t regret it for one second. Cleansing oil has been one of my skin routine arsenal (correct this) ever since. Even though I use minimal makeup daily, I still use cleansing oil at the end of the day to thoroughly remove every bit of makeup and sunscreen.

I bought one from The Saem a few weeks ago to try out since mine ran out. Well, to be exact, I can’t seem to find Kracie Cleansing Oil in most drugstores near me, hence buying another product. This one comes in a yellow pump bottle with a white cap. It contains 150 ml of product for around Rp 339,000. I forgot the exact price. I'm not sure about the ingredients since it's all written in Korean.

I usually need three pumps to cleanse my whole face with the transparent cleansing oil. It has a slippery feeling like most cleansing oil do. After I pumped it on the palm of my hand, I rub my hands together to disperse the oil and massage it in circular motions on my forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Yes, following that order. Habit, I guess.

After around 30 – 40 seconds of massaging my face, I wet my hands and apply yet another circular motion on my face. This will turn the transparent oil into a milky white solution. Afterwards, it’s just a matter of rinsing out the cleansing oil thoroughly with water.

There is no sticky or greasy residue after rinsing my face. You can actually move on to toner at this stage, but I like to finish my cleansing routine by using a cleansing foam afterwards. My skin has not reacted badly towards the cleansing oil so far. No redness, itchiness or acne on my face.

It removes almost all of the makeup that I use on a regular basis. Most of it are liquid lipstick, matte lipstick and eyeliner. It does take a lot longer and a good massaging to remove all of it, but it does come off in the end.

Overall, I didn't expect the cleansing oil to be this good in terms of the cleansing power and how it's not breaking my skin out so far. It leaves a fresh feeling once rinsed and none of the greasy residue. I would probably buy it again if my regular cleansing oil is still out of stock. Have you tried this? Let me know what you think about it below. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~

EMINA SUGAR RUSH LIPSTICK REVIEW & SWATCH

Monday, August 15, 2016

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I know I only have one lips, but it’s not a reason to stop buying lipsticks, is it? A couple of months ago, I saw these lipsticks at the Emina counter in the Kelapa Gading Watsons and bought it because it cute (strike through) new. I have tried it for two weeks and here is what I think of it.

The lipstick came with the colorful box that has all the complete information of the products including the list of ingredients. For a lipstick that costs Rp 36,000 (USD $2.74 ), it was quite surprising when I saw that it has a separate outer box. A cute one at that, too!

Inside the bright colored box is a blue, plastic lipstick case with white stripes printed on it. The lipstick is protected with a transparent lipstick cap that also showcases the fancy case packaging. The shade of the lipstick is printed on a round label sticker that is placed on the bottom of the case.

The shade I bought were Cookie Dough and Cherry Bomb, which are on the opposite side of the spectrum, brightness-wise. Cookie Dough belongs to the nude color family with a peach undertone, while Cherry Bomb is a deep pink with hints of  that is surely eye catching.
Too bright for daily makeup, but perfect for formal events.

I’m not gonna lie, I thought they were gonna come off poorly in terms of pigmentation. Yeah, I know. I underestimated them. I judged the book by cover, oh woe is me. These babies are highly pigmented even the nude shade! One swipe is all I need to cover all of my lip flaws.
Not my favorite shade, but it's surprisingly pigmented for a paler shade

Despite the fact that I’m pleased with the awesome pigmentation, I was kind of pessimistic of their moisture level. Most pigmented lipsticks give off the poorest moisture to my lips. Or at least that’s what I have experience thus far. Not with these, though. They are moisturizing on my lips. Sure it rubs off easily after a meal or a sneaky kiss, but I don’t mind reapplying them throughout the day.

Overall, these lipsticks have been nothing but surprises at every turn of this review. It was pigmented and moisturizing at the same time. The only downside I find on this product is the longevity, but it was understandable given their moisturizing property. The packaging was adorable and colorful with a reasonable price point.

How about you? Have you tried these Sugar Rush lipsticks from Emina? If you haven’t, I recommend that you do, because we need to support our local brands. Plus, it also acts as a good excuse to by makeup. Sounds legit.

Anyway, let me know in the comments below what you think of this or if you have any recommendations from Emina. Thanks for reading and until then, I’ll see you later~

REVLON ULTRA HD MATTE LIPCOLOR REVIEW & SWATCH

Sunday, July 24, 2016

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I'm not usually into matte lipsticks, but I have been trying a number of them lately. I like how they look on my lip, but I just can't stand it if they're drying out my lips. I have a tendency to lick my lips if it feels dry, lol. Bad habit, I know. I've been trying Revlon's matte liquid lipcolor, so here is what I think of them.

The liquid lipstick doesn’t come in a separate box, but it does have a bar code seal, so it is obvious if the cap were twist off. It indicates that the product has been used. Unlike a round lip product, this one has a rather flat surface like it was squished from the top.

Despite it looking weird, I kinda like the way the bottle sits on a flat surface because it won’t roll away. I’ve a couple of round ones that roll away and ended up broken on the floor.

The applicator is long and flat on both sides, kinda like someone took a regular lip gloss applicator and pinched it from the sides. Well, it looks like that to me, lol. I like that the flat applicator has a larger surface area compared to other applicators, making it quicker to distribute the product onto my lips.

However, I would like it even more if the edge is slightly pointier because it helps me a lot when it comes to applying the corners of my lips. You know, pointier equals reaching smaller areas easily?

Top : Addiction
Bottom : Devotion

I bought two shades from this collection, a light and dark shade. The first one is called Devotion, which is a rosy pink that looks almost similar to my lip color. The other shade is called Addiction, which is a deep pinkish red with a hint of mauve shade.

The formula spreads easily on my lips and reminds me slightly of the NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in that it being a hybrid of cream and mousse. It is quite opaque that it is able to cover my lips with one swipe. I haven’t tried their lighter shades, so I’m not sure the opacity can be generalized for all shades.

Like most liquid lipsticks, it feels wet when it was first applied and slowly dries to a matte formula. When I say slowly, I really mean it.  Even when it's dry, it's not completely matte. I usually just leave it for a minute or two and then dab it with a sheet of tissue. It's not transfer proof, so it can still leave a stain on surfaces even once dried.

Even though it looks matte, I find that it is quite moisturizing on my dry lips. Unlike tints that is drying and sinks into every crevice of my lips, this feels comfortable. It feels like I have just applied a layer of lip balm, wiped it off and then used the liquid lipstick on top. Confusing? Well, it’s just not drying, is what I’m trying to say.

I feel like almost every lip product I have encountered could not stand most of Indonesian meals. Why? Our meals are too greasy. Kwetiaw goreng, sate padang, rendang are amongst the few I can think of. This liquid lipstick is no exception when it comes to staying on after a proper Indonesian meal. The edges are still there, but the middle part are starting to fade. Acceptable.

Overall, I think the shades are suitable for my makeup needs, i.e. office wear and weekend looks. Devotion is another MLBB shade to fit right in my collection. It feels comfortable on my lips and doesn’t accentuate any cracks or chapped lips I have. I would have to reapply every once in a while, but it’s not a problem for me.

What do you think? Have you tried this product from Revlon? I know it has been out in the States for a while, but my country has just recently stock this at their counters. Let me know what you think about them in the comments below. Thanks for reading and until then, I’ll see you later~

Current Beauty Favorites July 2016 Edition

Monday, July 18, 2016

Hello, lovelies~ July is already here and halfway through! I thought I’d do a recap of the things that I have been liking these past 6 months, be it makeup or skincare. Not the most exciting post, but I just like to share these wonderful things with you.

Skin & Lab Vita Clinic Vitamin A Cream
If I want smoother skin in the morning, this is my go to night cream. I have already reviewed it in the past, but fell in love with it again recently. You can read about it in full detail in the blog post link here. Long story short, it sinks into the skin quite fast and leaves my skin soft and smooth in the morning. Click here for the full review.

Emina Sugar Rush
Being the new kid on the block, this simple sugar scrub is not only cute (packaging-wise), but also efficient and affordable. For those days when I’m too lazy to go to the kitchen and make a simple sugar scrub, this does the job well.

Bath & Body Works Body Lotion
One of my favorite scent to date. I'm terrible at describing scents, but I can imagine being out in field filled with flowers and the breeze on my face. It's a floral scent with a hint of freshness.

Celebon Sheet Face Masks
I'm not too particular with sheet face masks, so if there's an affordable one in the drugstore, I'm all for it! I found it in most drugstores and supermarkets, making it easily accessible. Unlike other sheet face masks, this one has no alcohol, awesome!

Marina UV White SPF 30/ PA ++
It has a thick consistency, but sinks into the skin quite effortlessly. The scent is citrusy, so I like reapplying it throughout the day.

Bioderma Hydrabio Soothing Refreshing Water
I have combination-oily skin, but I do love spritzing this on my face as it leaves me feeling refreshed mid-day. I do realize that it 'blots' away my shine, so that's a plus. :)

Wardah Sunscreen Gel SPF 30/ PA ++
I have already reviewed it here, so you can read more about it in-depth.

Makarizo Hair Energy Scentsations
I've tried the small size before, so when I saw the full size, I bought it without thinking. It's perfume for my hair! It doesn't leave a sticky residue, only nice smelling hair. *sniffs hair*

A'PIEU Air Fit Cushion (Doraemon Edition)
I have a full review on this cushion here, so you can go there to read more about it.

NYX Matte Lipstick
I know this is an old product from a year ago, but I have been falling in love with it recently. It gives off a beautiful mauve, nude on my lips. You can read the review in detail here.

Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor
With all the liquid lipstick being all the rage lately, I decided to try this out. It has a matte finish, but feels extremely comfortable on

Missha Magic Cushion Moisture (LINE Friends Edition)
Not only is the packaging ridiculously cute, but the product inside is as good as the outside. I have a full review on it here, so click it if you want to read more about it.

Witch’s Pouch Concealer
I didn’t have high expectations for this concealer at first, but I was proven wrong. Sure, I’m not a fan of the applicator, but the product itself is good. It has medium coverage with a semi matte finish that is not drying under the eyes. You can read the full review here.

Beauty Blender
The infamous makeup sponge that has taken over the nation world. It makes blending the foundation so much easier. You can read my full review here.

Makeup Brush
I bought it off Aliexpress for dirt cheap! It comes in a set of 4 for the price of USD $1.43 (ex shipping). However, since I got it during the free shipping period, so that is all I paid for. It's soft and I like using it to blend my concealer. Great buy. Here is the link of the shop where I buy them.

Silicone Makeup Cleaner
You know those Sigma silicone brush cleaner? Well, this is almost similar to that. Again, I bought it off Aliexpress for USD $ 0.99 a piece, excluding shipping. Great news? Free shipping! It has a suction cup on the bottom, so it sticks to the sink and makes it easier to clean my makeup brushes. Here is the Aliexpress shop link.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post and my favorite beauty products that I have been loving lately. I can assure you that I'm not being sponsored by Aliexpress, I just love to shop there for beauty and stationery items. So, any of my favorites that matches yours? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading, and until then, I'll see you later~

Witch's Pouch Selfie Perfect Concealer Review & Swatch

Monday, June 13, 2016

Hello, lovelies~ I have been away for so long that I've nearly forgotten how to write a blog post, lol. I have been caught up at work these past few months, so I just haven't gotten around to taking nice pictures for my product reviews. Let's start this blog going again with this review, shall we?

I got this concealer a while back from Althea when I got the chance to try out their services. It just looks chic with the black packaging with a witch's hat design. The concealer comes in a separate box that has all of the product information all over in Korean. The size of the concealer is similar to a regular pen, making it travel-friendly as it doesn't take up too much space in a makeup bag.

Despite the brush applicator, I don't apply it directly on my face due to hygiene purposes. I prefer to keep the brush clean, so I place some on the back of my (already clean) hand and proceed to apply it with either my fingers or a brush. The concealer blends easily on my face without leaving any stains on my fingers afterwards.

The coverage this concealer provides is between a light medium to medium coverage. It is definitely able to even out any redness on my skin and conceal some mild acne scars on my cheeks. As for my hyperpigmentation, it is only able to partially conceal it.

I can build up the coverage, but it looks cakey on me. Besides, I don't like covering my sun spots to the max because it looks unnatural to me. Just a matter of preference, I believe. I like using this on my under eye area because it doesn't look cakey or drying.

Overall, it has been a while since I liked a concealer this much in terms of concealing my dark under eye area. It doesn't completely cover the dark circles, but makes it partially present. I'm never into heavy makeup, so mild to moderate coverage is fine by me.

How about you? Have you tried this concealer from Witch's Pouch? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~

Missha x LINE Friends Magic Cushion Moisture Review & Swatch

Tuesday, May 10, 2016

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ A while ago, Missha collaborated with one of the famous chatting app, LINE, and came up with a variety of makeup/skincare products that is as adorable as their characters. I got a few makeup items to try out because they look cute interesting. Aside from the Sally lip balm tint and Brown lipstick that I have reviewed a couple of weeks ago, I also got the Magic Cushion, although I'm not sure what is so magical about it. After trying it out for two weeks, here are my thoughts about the lovable cushion.

The cushion comes in a separate orange box that has Sally's face printed on it. Inside the box is one cushion case complete with the BB cushion and a puff, along with an extra puff with another refill of the BB cushion. Unlike the outer box, the cushion case is yellow with Sally's face in the center of it. This is similar to my previous Doraemon BB cushion, both are equally adorable.

As I have mentioned in the paragraph before, this cushion comes with a puff that is just as cute as the casing and outer box. It is covered with pictures of Sally! I am not the biggest LINE friends fan, but this is just too cute. I bought this in the darkest shade out of the two, which is number 23.

The BB foundation/cushion blends effortlessly with the puff provided. I just tap the puff multiple times all over my face to get an even coverage and finish. It doesn't leave any sticky residue on my face like other moisturizing products on the market. I do prefer to set it with a mattifying powder on my T zone to keep my excess oil away for a few hours.

I like using it for an everyday look because it has medium coverage that partially conceals my sun spot and moderate acne scars. The redness on my skin (cheeks and edges of my nose) is evened out, leaving a more even skin tone and fresh-looking face.

Another reason I like using it (nearly) every day is because of its semi-matte finish, making it look more like skin as it still has a slight sheen.  To ensure a more natural finish (overall), I like to apply it from the center blending it towards my jawline. I don't like the idea of having a different shade of neck and face.

I work in an office where the air-condition is on full blast most of the day, so the environment tends to be drying for the skin. My legs ends up dry at the end of the day, but it's a different story for my face. I have an oily T-zone, so the BB cushion lasts for an average of 2 hours before I see oil seeping out of my pores. If I were to use a primer before and a powder after, the oil control increases to a mere 4 hours. It is a product targeted for dry skin type, after all.

Overall, the BB cushion is quite comfortable to use every day as it doesn't have a sticky residue after applying. As I am a fan of light medium coverage, I am enjoying it because it doesn't look cakey or made up. Oil control might not be its strongest forte, but it does say that it is intended for those blessed with dry skin or the likes.

What do you think of this adorable cushion from Missha and LINE friends? Do you think you will try it or leave it? Tell me what you think about it in the comments section below. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~

Etude House Big Cover Concealer Cushion Review & Swatch

Monday, May 02, 2016

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Base makeup has always been my favorite makeup category because it helps even out my skin tone so I don’t look like someone who just had allergies all up on her face. Whevener there’s a new concealer in the market, I just feel a sudden urge to buy it and try it out on my face. Thus, this Etude House Big Cover Concealer Cushion blog post is created, lol.

The concealer comes in a separate beige box with all of the product information and ingredients listed on the sides of it. I bought the darkest shade as I usually do with most Korean makeup products. Even then, it can sometimes be a little too light for my skintone. Luckily, this one mathes a bit better compared to my previous purchases.

Right out of the box, the concealer is housed in a tube that has a clicking mechanism on the end. On the opposite side is a white round puff where the product comes out. I usually dot this on the back of my hand before applying it straight to the problematic area, i.e. my blemishes. This helps me reduce any bacteria transfer from my acne to the applicator.

The consistency is slightly thick, but I can still blend it easily with fingers or with a brush. It has a slight plastic-powder scent when I applied it on my skin. I’m not sure if this is a dud on my part, but that’s what I’m experiencing at the moment.

It is able to conceals the redness and light acne scars, but can only partially conceal my sun spot.

The coverage that this concealer gives is around light medium to medium coverage. I tried applying it in layers, but it looked cakey and overall terrible on my skin. It has a matte finish, so I prefer using this for blemishes on my cheeks and other areas where it is usually oily. I don’t like using this under my eyes as it accentuates the dryness under my eyes and makes it look cakey.

I don't know if you can see how cakey it is under the eyes.

Overall, Etude House Big Cover Concealer Cushion may seem like a more practical method in applying concealer if you are not fully equipped with a sponge or brush. Tapping it with fingers can also be done to get the concealer even on the skin. The matte finish makes it more suitable to be used on my blemishes, instead on my under eye area.

What do you think of this concealer? Have you tried it? Let me know what you think in the comments section below. Thanks for reading and until then, I’ll see you later~

Witch's Pouch Foundation Review & Swatch

Tuesday, April 26, 2016

“Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Foundation has been one of my weaknesses in the 'base' category. I have been a fan of trying out new face primers, base, and foundations ever since I started this blog. Since I had the opportunity to try out some new Korean cosmetics brand at Althea, I chose one foundation among other things from a brand called Witch's Pouch.

The foundation comes in a white box with a black border on the sides. It has a cute witch’s hat printed on the front, which is appropriate for the brand of the product. The ingredients list are visible on one side of the box, complete in English and Korean language.

The bottle of the foundation is nearly the same as the outer box, especially the adorable little witch’s hat in the center. It is placed in an airless pump bottle that is clear, so the amount of foundation left can be seen from the outside.

The shade I got is the darkest out of the two like most Korean foundations, which is number 23. I thought it was going to be too light for my skintone, but it turned out the opposite. It was slightly too dark for my current skin tone, surprisingly. I ended up using a brightening primer to help lighten the shade a notch.

Thankfully, I have been having a relatively good skin (no acne for the past two months), so I darkened the photo to see the scars on my nose being slightly concealed by this foundation. The dark spot on my left cheek is also partly concealed.

The foundation gives a semi matte finish, which is a combination between matte and dewy, making it looks slightly more natural compared to a matte finish. It blends effortlessly onto my face, either with fingers or a brush. I prefer to use a brush because it leaves my fingers clean, so it just saves time.

As much as I love how it blends and looks on my skin, it does have a tendency to transfer to other surfaces (clothes, in particular). Just make sure to blot any excess product with one ply of tissue paper and finish it off with a setting powder or dusting powder or what have you.

Staying power is average on my combination oily skin, ranging around 3 hours tops if I were to stay in an air-conditioned room without too much activity. I think you can get away with a longer staying power, given you have dry skin.

Overall, I like the look of this foundation and how light it feels on my skin. It just made my skin tone look more even, without any redness, but still look like my own skin. However, it does transfer easily onto other surface, so I'm a bit worried about that aspect. Staying power is not the greatest on my skin type, but I think it can be good for drier skin types.

What do you think? Have you tried any product from Witch's Pouch? Let me know what you think of this in the comments below. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~

Hello, lovelies~ I have been in love with paper products for as long as I can remember. Jotting things down on paper with a pen in hand feels more satisfying than typing on a keyboard for me. I have had my shares of notebook for the past couple of years, so I'm always eager to try new ones.

Scoolmate Design sent me two paper-related items a few weeks ago for review purposes. Thank you, Scoolmate Designs. After trying them out for two weeks, here are my review on them.

The notebook has a thick cover with a sleeping cat gold foil design printed on the front. I can't quite get the angle right to show the gold foil goodness. It's not a hard cover, but quite sturdy to keep its shape when being thrown in bags and such.

The first page is filled with cuter cat-related items, such as yarn, bell collar and fishbone designs. As with most notebooks, the first page is usually dedicated for the owner's information. In this case, you can write down your name in the nicest way possible. I skipped that because my lettering are just awful.

The notebook has 48 pages, all which are ruled or lined. The paper feels quite thick, maybe ranging around 90-100 gsm. Don't quote me on that, though. The space in between the lines are too wide for my liking since I have smaller handwriting.

I use a Uniball Signo 0.38 for my everyday writing activity, so it is on the thin side and doesn't bleed through. Here are the list of pens I tried to write with on the pages to see if the ink would bleed to the back.

Scoolmate also sent me a notepad along with the notebook. It has a blank pages that you can use to write to do lists, grocery shopping lists, and other things you can think of.

The cover of the notebook is the same as the first page of the notebook. The paper feels the same as the notebook, just different layout, so I'm not going to talk much about that.

Overall, the products from Scoolmate Designs are of good quality to write on. They provide the notebook with a sturdy cover to ensure it from getting bent or folded. The notepad was a good addition to those who likes to jot things on the go. You can find the prices below.

What do you think of the designs from Scoolmate? Are they cute? Let me know what you think of them in the comments below. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~
