Illmasqua Skin Base Foundation Review and SwatchMonday, August 17, 2015
Hello, lovelies~ I have a foundation review that has been long overdue and just sitting there in my drafts folder collecting dust. I bought the Illamasqua foundation earlier this year because it has been in my wishlist for the longest time. Endi tried it and recommended it to me, so we went out one day and bought it.
The foundation comes sealed in plastic to ensure that it is brand new. There is no fancy box, which I find slightly strange considering that most high end foundation comes with one. Maybe this isn't considered as high end? Who knows.
I was matched to shade 5.5, which has a yellow-beige undertone. It didn't take me long to find the right shade because I tried Endi's foundation before and it was a near match to my skin. The foundation is slightly thick, but spreads easily on my face.
The foundation provides a medium coverage, able to conceal the redness on my cheeks and around my nose without looking too cakey. However, I find that it looks cakey under my eye area even with just one layer. I applied the foundation with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush and then buff it with the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. This ensures that my foundation looks blended and natural.
The oil control for this foundation is average on my current combination skin, lasting around 4-5 hours, if I'm indoors. Keep note that this tends to cling to dry areas of the skin, so if you have dry skin, maybe look for a foundation that is more moisturizing. It didn't oxidize on my skin, so it kept its shade until I removed it.
Have you tried this foundation from Illamasqua? Let me know in the comments below your thoughts on it and if you liked it. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~
