Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain Review and Swatch

Monday, April 06, 2015

Hello, lovelies~ Lip stain is one of my favorite product next to foundation when it comes to makeup. It gives a longer lasting color on my lips and doesn't transfer to my cup when I'm drinking tea. Around two weeks ago, Revlon sent me their latest product, the Colorstay Moisture Stain, to try for review purposes.

The lip stain has a rectangular shape package, with a brush that is wide and petal-shaped. It has the name of the shade on the bottom with a small sample of the shade inside.

I received five shades, namely Rio Rush, Shanghai Sizzle, Barcelona Nights, New York Scene, and Miami Fever. Their shade names were inspired by trend setter cities in the world. Miami Fever is a orange red or as I call it an easier-pull-off orange. Rio Rush is a hot pink, while Barcelona Nights is a darker pink with hints of purple. Shanghai Sizzle is bright red with hints of orange. New York Scene is a deep red with hints of brown.

The brush applicator reminds me of the YSL Glossy Stain, which is wide, but slightly pointy at the end. Applying the product is easy with the brush, so I don't use a separate lip brush. The stain is pigmented as it creates an opaque color with just one swipe.

Unlike standard lip stains I've tried before, this doesn't dry out my lips, but still manages to hold the color for nearly 5 hours. However, it doesn't give any moisture back to my lips, so keep in mind that this is not a hydrating lip product as it just sits on the lips.

The glossy finish may not be to everyone's preference, but I like to blot my lips after for a toned down look. After eating or drinking, the gloss disappears easily, leaving the stain behind. However, if I'm eating greasy foods, it can be guaranteed that it disappears right after, gloss and stain, lol.

My favorite way of using the Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain

Overall, these lip stains have a good pigmentation and lasting power, given that you're not consuming food or beverages. The consistency may be tricky at first since it's a bit fiddly to work with, but I got the hang of it. My favorites out of the bunch are Barcelona Nights, New York Scene (blotted), and Shanghai Sizzle. I am going to purchase the shade Stockholm Chic because I love Bulldong it looks like a neutral shade.

How about you? Have you tried these lip stains from Revlon? Let me know in the comment down below what you think of them. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~
