January Favorites 2014

Friday, January 31, 2014

Hello, lovelies~ January 2014 may not be the best month for those living in Jakarta. We are greeted with water, in a bad way, lol. I hope all of you are all safe and dry now, considering the sun is shining a lot lately or is just my area?

Anyway, I want to share my January beauty favorites this time, which has an equal number of items in both skincare and makeup department. Here are the few that made it to my list this month.

Project 10 Pan Start

Friday, January 31, 2014

Hello, lovelies~ To start off the new year,  I want to start a new Project 10 Pan to justify myself from buying skincare and makeup. The idea is to finish 10 items of my choice before I can buy a new one. This is what I have finished so far.

I'll do a mini review on each of them. Ready? Set? Start!

Hada Labo Shirojyun Ultimate Whitening Face Wash - One of the best face wash in the drugstore. It doesn't dry out my face and very affordable.

Etude House Wonder Pore Freshner - Not the best toner, but it's sufficient to do the job of refreshing my face. Might not be suitable for those with dry skin?

Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence - Best toner I've used so far. Moisturizes my skin without being to heavy, greasy, or sticky.

Suave Naturals Shampoo - Forgot the price, but it was worth looking into if you're into silicone-free shampoo.

L'Occitane Pivone Flora Hand Cream - Quite strong floral scent, not a favorite.

V10 Plus Vitamin C Serum - Helps tones down the redness and acne on my face. Love.

Cottage Caramel Shower Gel - Love the scent of candies when I'm feeling sad.

Now all I gotta do is break them into small pieces so the packaging won't be reused by bad sellers online. So scary.

Etude House Princess Etoinette Winter Edition Crystal Shine Lipstick Review

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Last month (December, to be exact), Etude House released the second series of their Princess Etoinette collection. It was the Winter edition that has a white color scheme all over the products. They have hand lotion, perfume, lipsticks, and many more as the picture down below.

As someone who is so much into white color, I decided to buy two of their lipsticks. I didn't purchase the first Princess Etoinette collection, which is a rather surprising ordeal, considering I am one that buys cute things without a good reason. ^_^

With such an elegant and detailed packaging, Etude House came up with three colors for the Crystal Shine Lips. The box design has flowers and princess-like frames that make the feminine side of me squeal in excitement.

Colorstay Concealer

Revlon Colorstay Concealer Review

Hello, lovelies~ How are you all doing on this rainy Monday? I wish everyone a great day ahead, without any hassle whatsoever. ^_^

Today, I will be reviewing one of my favorite beauty product, the concealer. Great for disguising any imperfections on my face, I (sometimes) use this for days when I don't feel like wearing too much makeup. Let's take a look at this concealer from Revlon today, shall we?
I thought it was you, son! :(

I bought it at Watsons when I was in Singapore last month and there's a funny story behind this. I thought this was the blemish concealer that I bought a couple of years ago. When I got home to read it, it was just the colorstay concealer, lol. Excuse the outdated and poor picture quality, but that is the only one I have before it was discontinued.

Beauty Boo Hoos part 1

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I posted this picture yesterday on my tumblr account, so it may be familiar to some of you who have visited that blog. To those who tumblr, mine is loapj.tumblr.com, if you wanna follow because I intend to keep this mainly beauty, not daily updates of my life and gibberish, lol.

As the title suggests, these are the beauty products that doesn't work for my skin. Starting off with the Himalaya Herbals face wash that doesn't dry my face out afterwards, but broke me out within two uses. Too bad, I really thought it can replace my Hada Labo Shirojyun face wash.

The second item on the list is another face wash that didn't seem to please my-ever-so-sensitive-and-picky-skin, purity by philosophy. Nearly everyone loved this face wash, some even swore by it, but it broke me out badly on my cheeks and near my eyebrow.

Moving on from face washes and how badly they break me out, let me present to you the all new miracle oil-gel from Maybelline. Their words, not mine. I really want this to work, but I just don't. Despite having the term 'oil' in its name, this is anything but that. It makes me drag my fingers across my face to get the thing to work. Disappointed.

Even though I can extract blackheads by myself, sometimes I like to relax and use 'gimmicky' products in the hope that this would different than its 'siblings'. I give you, Tony Moly Egg thing-a-majick. It's supposed to help clear blackheads from the pores, but this gave me a single, huge acne on my cheek. *sad*

The last items is a brow and lash gel from Essence that I thought would really hold my brows in place. Nope. It didn't. My brows are wet, though.

I rarely do full review on a product that doesn't work on me because it is tiring to do such a negative post, lol. Sometimes I would do it if that product is so bad that it rages me and drives me to write a review on it. Remember, if these things work for you, good. So happy for you, truly.

Face Cleansing Routine

Wednesday, January 22, 2014

Hello, lovelies~ Removing my makeup at the end of the day is always a must for me because of my acne prone skin. Even when I'm lazy, I force myself to at least get it off using a cleansing water that doesn't need to be rinsed. ^_^

Eyebrow Cake Powder

NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder Review

Monday, January 20, 2014

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ For those living in Jakarta, I hope you are all safe and dry, despite the flood lately. My housing complex got flooded, but luckily, it didn't manage to get inside the house. *phew*

Today, I wanted to review an eyebrow product that I just recently used from NYX. I have always wanted to try it, but my desired shade was always out of stock in my favorite online shop, Chic Princessa. After getting it, here is what I think about it.

The eyebrow cake powder comes in a sleek black case covered with frosted plastic. My shade is ECP 01 Black/Gray because it matches my black hair. I don't really like browns for my eyebrows since they tend to mismatch and make me look weird.

DOAPJ How-To: Shop at Luxola

Friday, January 17, 2014

Hello, lovelies~ Shopping online may be the best thing since sliced bread for me, lol. It doesn't require me to change my clothes, get out of the house, facing traffic and paying the parking fee (Rp 4,000/hour now!). All those hassle is just avoided by sitting in front of the computer and clicking away the items I want. Before I know it, the items arrive safely on my doorstep. Simply lovely, wouldn't you say?

Of course there are a few online shops that are just down right nasty or a sneaky con artist. You have to be extra careful when shopping online for skincare and/or makeup because there are fakes out there that are being sold by irresponsible shops.

Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Review

Friday, January 17, 2014

“Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Have I told you lately that the sun is bad for our skin? Well, I mean the rays after 9 a.m., that is. It is capable of damaging our skin, resulting in fine lines, wrinkles, and sun spots. In other words, the sun (or its rays) ages us faster than normal.

What if you already have damages from the sun, you ask? Don’t worry. The fine lines and wrinkles can be treated with skincare, but for those with severe sun spots (like mine) can ‘lasered’ out of existence. In this post, I am going to review a serum from Clinique that promises to help treat any damages from the sun, such as fine lines.

8 Hour Cream

Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream Lip Protectant Review

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Lip balm is one of the things in my skincare that I need to repurchase often because it runs out most of the time. I do work in an air-conditioned environment most of the time, so my lips are usually chapped and dry at the end of the day. Hence, the need of lip balms in my life is oh-so-very important.

Essence Sun Club Shimmer Bronzing Powder Review

Tuesday, January 07, 2014

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I don’t really own a lot of bronzers ever since I started my journey in the makeup world. However, I do enjoy the occasional tanning of the skin and looking all sun kissed. That being said, I haven’t tried a lot of bronzers.

Tmart Bioelectric Impedance Analysis Review

Sunday, January 05, 2014

“Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out.” Complete disclosure here
Hello, lovelies~ I hope the new year has been great for you thus far. A few months ago, I was offered to test out a device called the Bioelectric Impedance Analysis from Tmart.com. There are other skincare devices on their website, including a face brush, a Tmart Massager, other health related things. They offer worldwide free shipping, too!

The Bioelectric Impedance Analysis (or BIA for short) came in a box along with an instruction manual. It's not heavy at all, so the shipping cost can be minimized, I feel, lol. *cheapskate*

Anyhoos, the instruction manual also showed the charts for measurements of moisture, oil, and roughness of the skin. It comes with the age groups, so you can check out what is ideal for your age.
