Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet Review and Swatch

Friday, December 19, 2014

Hello, lovelies~ I can't stress how much in love I am with foundations or any base makeup for that matter. Even if I still have three bottles waiting to be finished, I can still be tempted to buy a new one on the shelf. Even more so if there is a new collection. Yes, someone stop me please.

Chanel has been one of my favorite high end brand when it comes to foundations, albeit the steep price and alcohol presence. Satisfied with the previous Vitalumiere Aqua, I decided to try the new Perfection Lumiere Velvet in the all black square box.

It looks similar to the Vitalumiere Aqua, only in black. There is alcohol present in this foundation, but I don't use foundation every day, so that shouldn't be a problem. It contains nano titanium dioxide, which helps reduce white cast when photographed. This foundation is free from parabens.

Dispensing the foundation is easy because of the squeeze tube packaging. I don't need a lot for my whole face, just around 3 drop max. However, if I wanted more coverage, I can use more than 3 drops at the chance of looking cakey.

With a single layer of foundation, I can get light to medium coverage on my face. It can conceal all the redness and uneven skin tone, but not any active acne or sun spots. It has a matte finish with a slight powdery sensation. I usually use a buffing brush to get the coverage I want.

If you have dry skin or combination/dry skin, do stay away from this foundation as it WILL exaggerate the dry patches on your skin. I would suggest using the Vitalumiere Aqua if you have dry areas on your skin. The oil control is around 5-6 hours on my combination/oily skin type outdoors and even longer when in an air conditioned room.

Overall, I would highly recommend this to those looking for a lightweight, light to medium coverage foundation with an oily skin type. It will give you great oil control, especially when paired with a face primer and setting powder.
