Review Hera UV Mist Cushion Summer Proof

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.”

Hello, lovelies~ The sun has been blazing its power unto us lately, hasn't it? This is the time to wear my long lasting base makeup product to keep my face looking fresh and still have an even skin tone all through the day.

As with most cushion makeup bases, it comes with a round case that is almost similar to one of a compact powder, complete with a push-button to open it. I bought this foundation at ibuybeauti for USD $ 45.99, with the extra refill. They have free worldwide shipping which is why I purchase it there.

The air puff is similar to the other cushion makeup products, except this one has the letter 'H' on the puff. I like these types of puffs because it gives an even finish to the skin without having to apply extra energy to blend in the product. All I need to do is just tap it evenly all over my face and voila!

This cushion uses a mixture of chemical and physical sunscreen, so it protects the skin from both UVA and UVB rays that the sun emits. It has SPF 50/PA +++, to be exact.

Once the plastic barrier is opened, there is a sponge-like material that holds all of the liquid product neatly. This makes it travel friendly because of its compact-powder appearance, hence it won't have to be placed inside a plastic bag along with other liquid products.

The product can be refilled with a new one just by simply pressing the back of the product as indicated. The refill itself is just a white plastic tub that fits into the compact.

To use the cushion makeup is as simple as using a regular compact powder. Dip the puff into the cushion and pat it evenly all over my face. Nothing complicated or overwhelming, right?

I prefer using this cushion makeup base on days when I don't feel like wearing layers of makeup and when it is a hot, sunny day. It doesn't give much coverage on my face, but it does even out my skin tone, thus reducing any appearance of redness on my face. The shade #23 is a tad light on my face, but nothing too drastic that is noticeable.

One thing I like from this product is the longevity and how it stands the heat. I tried wearing it while I was cooking in my inhumanely hot kitchen and it passed the test by still being there on my face. On sunny days, I noticed that it lasted for around 5-8 hours, given that I don't rub my face harshly.

Overall, the cushion makeup is suitable for me since it can withstand my easily-sweaty-face and the weather. Although it has SPF 50/PA+++, I still wear sunscreen underneath because I don't apply the HERA cushion base evenly all over my face, hence the lack of sun protection. This is, by far, my favorite cushion makeup from the Korean beauty world.

How about you? What is your favorite cushion makeup base? Let me know in the comments below, I would love to try out new things, hehehe.. Thanks for reading and until then, I'll see you later~ ^_ ^

  1. Ci I'm wondering why it's called "mist",
since it doesn't looks like a mist product at all ._.

    1. Don't really know since it's mostly Korean in the description on their website. ^_^;;

    2. I actually wondered about the "mist" bit as well, and supposedly, it's because:
      1. it removes the need to a "mist spray" afterwards, and
      2. from the mambo-jumbo nonsensical description (in English), on the leaflet in the box:
"the UV Mist Cushion uses 100% clay-mineral water containing clay from frozen sea ice which is finer than fog particles"
      and
      3. "The thin layer lightly covers the skin like an invisible sheet while giving moist and lustrous skin just like spraying a mist"
so there you have it, Hera UV Mist Cushion.

I have the new version of the cushion and while it looks great on my skin, it has the shortest life-span of any makeup I've ever tried when applied without a primer. But... when I use a proper base first, then it's pure magic - it stays on forever.

Now I'm playing around with two other cushions: IOPE and su:m37, but I must say that I think I prefer Hera after all.
