Hello, lovelies~ I'm sure that everyone is already familiar with the brand shu uemura from Japan, right? It is one of the Japanese brand that is famous for their cleansing oil. I'm going to introduce to you the man behind the brand first before going to the cleansing oils in depth.
SkincareTONYMOLY Peach Anti-Aging Hand Cream
Not only does it look cute on my nightstand, it moisturizes my hands decently and leaves them smelling all peachy. Love it so so much! My hands feel so smooth afterwards.
TONYMOLY Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist
Another hit from Tonymoly with its cute white bunny design. It refreshes my face during the day and kinda controls my oil slightly.
Etude House Bee Happy Lip Balm
An oldie but goodie lip balm from Etude House. I've been applying this before sleep and wake up with moisturized lips, chapped free!
Sorry for the inconsistencies of my posts, I've had a few things going on in my life right now and I've just been overwhelmed by it. Not gonna talk so much about it, so here is the review.

Full size bottle is beautiful
IngredientsThis is my first time using an essence that has a lot of plant extracts that I was scared it would break me out. Some natural ingredients may be an irritant towards the skin, so choose them carefully. This part would be long since I wanted to explain a couple of the ingredients to you.
- Hydrogenated lecithin acts an emulsifying agent so that the ingredients can permeate through the skin. This ingredient used to be thought as carcinogenic, but a study showed that it was not linked to causing cancer and that the safe concentration is 15%. I don't know the concentration of it in this essence :(
- The C14-22 alcohol is the good alcohol that doesn't dry out the skin and usually found naturally in jojoba.
- Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride acts as a solvent that helps stabilize the natural ingredients. It also increases the shelf life and improves the consistency of the product, making it easy to spread all over the face. Also, it is especially good for sensitive and oily skin since it is derived from specific parts of coconut/palm oil fatty acid.
Water, Hydrogenated lecithin, Cholesterol, Ceramide 3, Cholesteryl hydroxystearate, C12-20 Alkyl Glucoside, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Stearic Acid, Glyceryl Stearate, PEG-100 Stearate, C14-22 alcohols, Carbomer, Triethanol amine, Dipropylene glycol, Glyceryl polymethacrylate, Propylene Glycol, Beta-Glucan, PEG, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, PEG-150, Panthenol, Cyclomethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Velvet, Angelica acutiloba, Glycyrrhiza Glabra, Panax Ginseng, Paeonia albiflora, Ophiopogon japonicus, Scutellaria baicalensis, Angelica Gigas Root Extract, Cinnamomum cassia, Zingiber officinale, Zizyphus jujuba, Rehmannia glutinosa, Poria Cocos, Hydroxyproline, Glycosphingolipids, Phospholipids, Polybutylene glycol, dimethicone 1,2-hexanediol, dimethiconolmethyl trimethicone, cornus officinalis fruit extract, thymus yulgaris flower/leaf extract, dioscorea japonica root extract, typha angustifolia spike extract, ledebouriella divaricata root extract, atractyloides japonica rhizome extract, human oligopeptide 1, human oligopeptide 2, human oligopeptide 11, human oligopeptide 9, human oligopeptide 4, oryza sativa germ extract, acrylates/c10-30 alkyl acrylate crosspolymer trisodium edta, yellow 6.
Slightly thick consistency
My skin gulped it like it was water!
Any difference?I took note within 24 hours after I first use the Ja Saeng Essence. I didn't see any allergic reaction such as redness, acne, or itchiness. I can already see the results within 2 days. However, I have to stop using this at the moment because I have a few skincare waiting to be tried out.
In 2 days, I can see the bumps on my right cheek has reduced significantly. I showed the before after picture to Mr. G and he said, "You dead sure there isn't any mercury in that essence?". Hahaha.. Yeah, I was puh-retty sure about that, love.
Since this is only a first impressions post, I shall continue this with a review when I've already tried it for at least two weeks. So far, I'm impressed with the Ja Saeng essence. Until then, I'll see you later~
What I use
- Any makeup remover water
- Alcohol (70% is enough)
- An empty spray bottle (preferably a cute one!)
How I make itAt first, I tried 50:50, but I find that it's not concentrated and took a while to get makeup off. I increased the makeup remover water ration up to 70, leaving alcohol 30.
The makeup remover water will be the one that removes the makeup, whereas the alcohol will dry the brushes quicker and disinfects them.
All you have to do is just measure the ingredients and pour them in your designated spray bottle. If you want to be precise, you can always grab a measuring cup, mix it in a bowl, then pour it through a funnel into the spray bottle.
Let's test it out!I've tried cleaning my brushes with this DIY brush cleanser and so far, nothing bad has happened to my brushes. Just for reference, I used it on my Sigma F80 flat top kabuki brush, Masami Shouko brushes, Etude House foundation brush, bare minerals flawless face brush, and elf powder brush.
For the demonstration, I'm going to use it on my Sigma brush. It is used almost everyday to blend out my BB cream and/or foundation, so it is bound to get dirty.
All I did was spritz some on tissues and swipe the brush back and forth to clean it out. Repeat if necessary. I recommend using a paper towel or a towel since tissues tend to break easily because they're thin.
So, I hope this post is helpful to those who want to clean their brushes daily or just a quick process of disinfecting them. I used to use baby wipes to cleanse them daily, but I find that they took a while to dry and I only use a small portion of the tissue. That's kinda like wasting the rest of it.
What do you use for daily cleansing your brushes? Tell me in the comments below and until then, I'll see you later~
Why do I have acne?
- You are still in puberty and your hormones are still high, thus acne was born
- You have an overstimulated sebaceous gland that cause overproduction of sebum (oil) which leads to clogging of the pores because the dead skin cells cannot shed off the skin
- There are bacterias (P. acnes) present on your face
- Some food (low fat milk) tend to trigger acne
Why do I STILL have acne when I'm already 30 and above?
How many times in a day should I wash my face?
Why does my skin turn red, flaky and painful when I use retinoic acid?Retinoic acid is one of the most commonly used acne medication. It works by removing the dead skin cells on the outermost layer of the skin. The most common side effects of this drug are:
- flaky skin
- stinging sensation
It's been 8 weeks using retinoic acid and the side effects are still present. What do I do?
I tried using retinoic acid as treatment, but it makes my face all red and flaky and painful. How am I suppose to use it?
- Monday night: Face wash > Toner > Serum (optional) > retinoic acid
- Tuesday night: Face wash > Toner > Serum (optional) > usual night cream
- Wednesday night : Face wash > Toner > Serum (optional) > retinoic acid
I hope you enjoy this post and if you have any questions, leave them in the comments below. Until then, I'll see you later!
Cute, cute, cute label design!
Still has alcohol
Non aerosol spray
Oil controlThe makeup fixer claims to be able to control excess sebum and lengthens the duration of makeup. I find this claim to be true because my face had that satin finish for around 3 hours.
If any product can make it up to the third hour in terms of oil control, that's good in my book. Entering the 5th hour, my cheeks starts to look a little shiny, but nothing to dramatic.
Having said all that, it does give a longer time for the makeup to stay on my face. Probably because it manages to keep the oil at bay. You can carry it around with you and spritz it if you need to look your best, shine free. Preferably after blotting your T zone.
A quick tip from me is to spray it only at the oily parts of your face in minimal amount. I once sprayed it to my face like I would spray my Evian spray and ended up smudging everything, hahaha.. So, remember, less is sometimes more, 'kay? ^_^
ConclusionAll in all, I find that this may suit combination to oily skin type since it does help to reduce excess oil on the face. However, for those who are sensitive towards alcohol, you may want to be careful when using this since it is the second ingredient in the list. That's a whole lot of alcohol..
I wonder if it will be the same if I mix water and alcohol and spritz it on my face as a setting spray? #thinking.
Anyhoo, I won't be repurchasing this again because of the alcohol, but if you would like to try out this affordable (around Rp 70,000-ish) makeup fixer, let me know in the comments what you think of it! Until then, I'll see you later~
Slim pump bottle
Light pink lotionThe hand and body lotion has a light pink colour, probably because it is Strawberry-themed. Hahaha.. Anyway, the lotion sinks into the skin quite rapidly under the 1 minute mark. Well, if you applied it onto a huge surface area, then it would take more than a minute to sink in, I assume.
Once absorbed into the skin, it feels light and smooth on my skin. It doesn't have neither sticky nor greasy finish after I applied on my skin. That's good, yeay! Oh, it smells like strawberries with a slight sourness as a last note. Kinda like strawberry yogurt, with more yogurt than strawberries. ^_^
Not moisturizing enoughFor my hands, it gives sufficient moisture with a single pump. However, on my dry legs, I feel that it isn't too moisturizing. I think it would be more suitable for normal skin rather than dry skin.
My calves still feel rough 10 minutes after applying this lotion. I guess I have to apply body butter to the dry parts of my body.
ConclusionI like to use this for my hands, but not for my legs since they are drier compared to my hands. The lotion absorbs quite fast into my skin and leaves it feeling smooth. Since the size is not to big, it can be placed on my desk without taking much space. Perfect to be used after I've finished washing my hands.
Have you tried any of the Bali Ratih products? Do comment below if you have and tell me your favorite! I'd like to know which one to buy next, hahaha..
