Hello, lovelies~ I'm not usually a fan of cupcakes as I find them too sweet for my preference. Most of the cupcakes I've bought and tasted are local ones that uses (mostly) buttercream as their frosting. When I'm craving for cupcakes, I usually make one myself so I can have the cream cheese frosting on top.
However, with the trend of cupcakes hitting Jakarta hard a few months back, most of them starts using cream cheese as a frosting. One of them is called Twelve Cupcakes, which I tried a few weeks ago at Emporium Pluit Mall. It is located on the 4th floor, right next to Sour Sally, near the escalator that leads to the cinema. It's not that hard to find. They have a display case where all the pretty cupcakes are stored neatly in it.
They categorized the flavors into two, which is the 'Everyday Flavors' and 'Special Flavors'. There are 12 Everyday Flavors, which is always available every day, just like the name states. As for the Special Flavors, they are available daily as well, but it won't be the same flavors. Now, let's move on to each cupcake.
Let's start with Peanut Butter Chocolate. It has a peanut butter frosting topped with strips of chocolate on top of a moist chocolate cupcake. For those who likes peanut butter, this is a must-try item. The savory peanut butter blends in with the moist chocolate cupcake giving that sweet savoury taste that is absolutely perfect.
Next is one of my favorites, the Vanilla Chocolate. It has a cream cheese frosting laced with strips of chocolate on top of a chocolate cupcake. It doesn't taste strongly of vanilla (which I like) and complements the chocolate cupcake beautifully.
Moving on to Chocolate Chocolate, a cupcake so delicious, they named it twice! :) This is a chocolate cupcake with a combination of cream cheese and chocolate on top. It's kinda like having a chocolate cheesecake as a frosting! One of my favorite as well. Oh, it has those crunchy chocolate balls on top~
This isn't usually what I bought from them, but it was looking all cute and sad and alone, so I got it. The Rainbow Vanilla is a vanilla cupcake that has a vanilla cream cheese frosting and topped with rainbow sprinkles. It was too vanilla for me, but if you really like vanilla, go for it. I'm more of a chocolate kinda girl, ya' know? :)
Last but not least is my favorite of them all, ze Red Velvet. It is a classic red velvet cupcake topped with a fluffy cream cheese frosting. Love it!
In general, all of their cupcakes are moist, so it doesn't dry out your mouth because I know some cupcakes that does that. Also, I like that the cupcake itself is not too sweet, so it works well with the frosting they placed on top.
Do you like cupcakes? What is your favorite flavor? Let me know in the comments below and until then, I'll see you later~
