Wardah Exclusive Lipstick Review

Wednesday, September 04, 2013

Hello, lovelies~ For those residing in Indonesia, Wardah must already be familiar to you. I am a fan of their lightening toner until now, so I want to give their lipsticks a try. For only Rp 30,000 (USD 3.00) a piece, I grabbed four shades. ^_^

The lipstick came with a separate green box with all the information written on it. It has a small window at the bottom to ensure the right shade number that the customers want. I don't know about you, but I always prefer my products to come in a separate box because it felt special, lol. Maybe it's just me.

There is no mineral oil in this lipstick, but it is substituted with Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, which is categorized as an emollient. Another type of emollient found is Paraffin Wax that works to coat and keep the moisture on the lips. There are Jojoba oil and Squalene to give the moisture, but it doesn't really moisturize as much. The Shea Butter ingredient is quite low in the list, so I figured it wouldn't really do much.

The lipstick casing has the same green color as the box with the brand's name inscribed in the bottom middle of the lipstick cap. There is nothing special or eye catching about the lipstick casing, but I still like its simplicity and color theme.
I bought four shades from this collection, mostly pinks because that is the shade that suit my skin tone, I feel. For a local brand, I do appreciate their thoughts in naming each of their lipsticks aside from just labeling numbers like the other. The shades I got were Pink Orchid, Pink Lovers, Light Rose and Sugary Pink.

Comparing the shades side by side when I swatched it on the back of my hand, it looks almost similar to one another, except for Pink Lovers. Actually, I don't know why the shade is called Pink Lovers, when it's nearly a brown-undertoned lipstick. Maybe mine was a dud during the labelling process, lol.

The lipstick has a great color pay off and opaqueness because I don't have to swipe it over and over to get the color on my lip. It can be a bit 'draggy' for me when I apply it, but I think it's because it gets too cold in my room that my lipsticks kinda gets 'chilled' a bit. Certainly feels moisturizing when it's first applied, but starts to feel drying on my lips after the second hour of use. As with most lipsticks, it fades after a meal or drink.

I like Light Rose and Pink Lovers for everyday use because it is not too eye catching that Mr. G would complain. Pink Orchid has a subtle hint of purple that is perfect for a bright pop of color, whereas Sugary Pink has a more pink undertone. Sometimes, I would use Sugary Pink and blot it with tissue to tone down the color, making it suitable for an office friendly color. All of them has a cream finish that looks glossy on the lips, but after an hour or two the glossiness fades away.

I hope this post was helpful for those searching for a new lipstick from Wardah or even a local brand. I don't really care what brand it is, be it local or international, as long as it looks good and works well. How about you? Have you tried any of the Wardah lipstick? Let me know in the comments below and until then, I'll see you later~
