Revlon New Complexion Oil Control Makeup Foundation Review

Friday, August 16, 2013

Hello, lovelies~ a couple of months ago, when I went to Star department store at Kelapa Gading mall, I browsed through the Revlon counter. I wasn't looking for anything specific, but I found this item that I have yet to try, another foundation, lol. I know. I still haven't finished other liquid foundations, but I can't resist passing this one up, so I bought the oil control makeup from Revlon. I've used this for over a month and here is the review.

The bottle reminds me so much of their Colorstay line, which is a glass bottle with a twist off cap. The only difference it has with the Colorstay line is the white cap, whereas the Colorstay collection has a black cap. It doesn't come with a separate box when I bought it, but it was sealed with a clear plastic wrap to indicate the 'freshness' of the foundation.

On the back of the bottle, it has a few information regarding the foundation. It states that it is capable of controlling excess oil and other good stuff.

As I've mentioned in the paragraph earlier, this bottle is similar to the one called Revlon Colorstay Foundation. It has the same twist off cap that reveals a large hole where the foundation can be poured easily onto the desired surface. However, it can be a little messy, so always pour with great caution.

The shade I bought was 06 Medium Beige, which may look a lot darker when I swatched it on the back of my hand as shown in the picture below. However, my face is darker compared to the back of my hand, so it shouldn't be a problem. The consistency of the foundation is slightly runnier than a typical lotion, but not too runny that is resembles water. There is a slight scent, but it doesn't bother me that much once I blended it all over my face.

This foundation provides my very oily skin type a matte finish, perfect for my skin type. I wouldn't recommend those with dry skin to use this foundation because it can exaggerate the dry patches on your face. As seen on the photos below, it gives a medium coverage, which is able to cover my mild acne scars and redness on my face.

It does cover my sun spot slightly, but I usually go in with a concealer afterwards for a more covered appearance, if I feel like it. The small acne on the photo below are covered, as well.

The photo below shows my active acne that is going on the recovery process. As you can see, the foundation evens out my skin tone, concealing the redness that is present on that area. Granted, it needs more concealer on my active acne, but the coverage is quite remarkable with just one layer.

One of the things I like from this foundation aside from the matte finish is the smooth and silky feel after I've blended the foundation evenly on my face. Sometimes, I didn't apply powder afterwards because it felt that it sets on my skin. However, for more long lasting power, I applied another sheer dusting of powder on top.

The oil control. One of the things that make or break a foundation in my book. As seen in the picture below, it lasted for 4 hours on my face, even though it looks slightly shiny, but it's nothing too much. The coverage on my cheeks still stayed on covering my redness. I am pleased with the oil control of this foundation because it is able to maintain the coverage on my face, whilst keeping my oil at bay.

Overall, for a drugstore foundation, Revlon has always been one of my go-to foundation. My HG foundation is also from Revlon, which is the Revlon Colorstay. I don't wanna jinx it, but this may very well be one of my HG foundations right next to the Revlon Colorstay. To sum up, here are the good and not so good points from this foundation.
Have you tried this foundation yet? Let me know if you have along with your skin type in the comments below. I would love for you to share your experience with the other that has a different skin type than mine, so your experience can be a reference too! Until then, I'll see you later~ ^_^
