Holika Holika Oil Queen Cotton Pact SPF 30/PA++ Review

Hello, lovelies~ As a person with oily skin, I am always looking for new makeup products that can help lengthen the shine-free appearance on my face. Be it compact powder, foundation or primer, I am always on the hunt for it. Today, I wanted to share a compact powder that is from Holika Holika called Oil Queen Cotton.

The compact powder comes with a separate box that has a light blue and orange color theme. It looks really cute with the cotton logo on it.

The product itself has a white color with the same logo printed on the compact. Opening the compact is just simply unlatching the cap upwards like most compact powders.

Inside the compact, I see a white powder puff with Holika Holika printed ribbon handle and a plastic separator. I really appreciate it if there is a separator between the powder and the puff because it makes it more hygienic

I can't really read the ingredients since it is written in Korean language, but it claims to control overflow of sebum and change my skin from oily to soft. Well, I just read that off the description, but don't really believe it immediately. After all, those are made to sound so good and effective, LOL.

Anyway, the powder itself is cute! It has the logo embossed on the white powder, which scared me at first. I was afraid that I'll look like a ghost once I applied it on my face. It doesn't have any coverage on my face, so it works to set my previous makeup that I've applied.

However, I realized that the white powder goes on transparent on my skin once I blended it out. I sometimes like using the powder puff to ensure that my foundation is set and later, I take a powder brush to just knock off the excess powder. However, on my lazy days, I just grabbed a powder brush and use that.

Moving on to the claims of this marvellous-sounding compact powder that promises to control overflow of sebum. Just for reference, as I've mentioned before, I have a very oily skin type that is sensitive and acne prone. Here is how my face looks like after 3 to 4 hours of using the compact powder.

As you can see it can look quite oily, but I asked Mr. G and he said it's not that oily looking. However, I feel that my forehead and nose is very oily that I can smell the sebum, LOL. I think it's best to reapply the powder after 3 hours to ensure a shine-free complexion.

All in all, I quite like this compact powder because it is effective to just touch up during the day. Even though it looks so-so after 3 hours on my oily face, I can imagine this working beautifully on normal-combination skin. It has an SPF of 30 and PA ++, so my skin will be protected from the sun. Despite the fact that it didn't really excel on my oily skin, I still like it for it's SPF and PA.

Have you tried this compact or do you any compact that you swore by? Let me know in the comments below and until the, I'll see you later~

  1. omg, The powder case is soo cuutee :) *packaging craze mode on
and it has separator too, quite hygienic and tidy.
so the finish is translucent and no coverage at all. But anyway It's good to have it for the sun protection.
Seems pretty light on skin btw
I my self usually prefer powder pact which has coverage.
thank u for sharing review ^^

    1. Yeah, wouldn't really recommend it to someone who has a dark skin tone. I know it's 'kinda transparent', but it'll still leave a white cast on someone with a dark skintone. ^_^

  2. I have combination skin, so only my t-zone gets oily (my cheeks are dry) but I'd love to try this out! :)

    1. I think it works well if you don't have that much excess oil to begin with, since it does have a so-so oil control on my very oily skin. ^_^

  3. I really like how the compact keeps the sponge separate from the product and the sun protection. Too bad about the oil control tho~

    1. It would've been more awesome to have the plastic separator that is attached to the compact. This one keeps falling off when I open the compact :s
