Non Comedogenic Term

Hello, lovelies~ Lately, I've been noticing more products with terms such as non-comedogenic. To those who are still confused on what it means, I'll try to explain it in this simple blog post.

What does it mean by 'non-comedogenic'?

It is a term used by the cosmetics industry to classify that the product won't clog your pores, thus preventing acne from happening in the future.

So, when I look for non-comedogenic products, will I be definitely free from acne?

No. You are the person that knows your skin inside and out. There are a few ingredients that react differently on people. Let me show you an example.

Both my brother and I have acne prone skin. We went to find moisturizers that will help treat our acne. Tea tree is amongst one of them and is labelled 'non-comedogenic'. It works on my brother, but not on me. I experienced more break outs when I use tea tree oil because I am sensitive or allergic towards tea tree oil.

So, be sure that you know what you're allergic or have a reaction to when it comes to using beauty products. Don't just read the claims of non-comedogenic or non-acnegenic or hypoallergenic or whatevergenic. Know your own skin.

Okay, so no clogged pores will guarantee me being acne free, right?

Again, no. Keep in mind that the cause of acne is not just clogged pores alone. There are other causes of acne that people should be more aware of (bacteria, overly active sebaceous glands, etc). You can always read more in this post. Just click on it!

I hope this post helps, until then, I'll see you later~
