Weekend Project: Candle Glass Jar

Hello, lovelies~ I love to light scented candles when I am feeling down or when I'm writing a blog post. The scent fills the air and my mood is usually happier than I was before I light a candle. I usually go for candle jars because after the candle is finished, I can use the jar for other things.

Nifty Finds: Bubble Net

Hello, lovelies~ Washing my face is one of the skincare routines that I can never skip, of course. I have oily and acne prone skin, so skipping washing the dirt off my face will result in a series of acne after acne after acne.. Well, you get the point.

One of my favorite way of washing my face is with plenty of foam or bubbles. This ensures that all the excess oil on my face is removed without having to tug hard on my skin. Constant vigorous tugging on the face can cause wrinkles, you know! I don't want that, of course!

So, a couple of months ago, I went to DAISO to get a backup of my bubble net. This will help create thick bubbles to wash my face with. If I use that thick bubble, I won't have to do extra tugging on my face since the foam is dense enough to cleanse my face.

Here are the steps that I usually do to achieve such bubbles. If you stay tuned to the end, I have a surprise for you!

I love using this bubble net because it helps cleanse my skin without having the need to tug hard on my skin. This will keep my face cleaner and not saggy in the future. I just use it like I would any other face washes. This one felt good~ on my face.

Until then, I'll see you later~

Bubbles Away: Societea

Hello, lovelies~ Lately, there has been a lot of bubble tea shops in Jakarta. I've only tried a couple of them because there are a lot of them. Truth be told, I'm not a big milk tea fan, so every time I go to such places, I always ordered something that is chocolate flavored. A few weeks ago, Mr. G and I went to Pantai Indah Kapuk and tried out one of the bubble tea shops called Societea.

I am quite fond of the name because it sounds promising and high class. I mean, come on, the name is one of the best tea puns I've heard in ages, hahaha..

O.S.T Original Pure Vitamin C20 Serum Review

"Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out. " Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Have you incorporated antioxidants in your skincare routine? Antioxidants are not just useful when consumed in tablet form, but also have its benefits if applied topically on the skin. I've used antioxidants before on my face, but lately I didn't. Hahaha..

A few weeks ago, I received a product from WishTrend to review and share my experience with you all. It is none other than Vitamin C serum from O.S.T. I've used it for two weeks every day and night to see how my skin would react to it.

A dropper packaging

It comes in a glossy red box that has most of the description in Korean. The box is quite sturdy as it has a thick carton lining on the inside.

Once I take it out of the box, the product is packaged in a dropper-type bottle with a dark-stained glass bottle. I wonder if the Vitamin C would just evaporate and vanish when exposed to air every time I use it.

I think it would be better if the Vitamin C is packaged in an airless pump bottle to minimize air exposure, so that I'm sure that the Vitamin C is still preserved. ^_^

Its contents

It has a high content of Vitamin C or Ascorbic Acid as the second ingredient in the list. The tea extract

The third ingredient in the serum is ethanol and I do have sensitivity towards that substance, so I had acne within the first week. However, if you have no sensitivity whatsoever against alcohol, go ahead. ^_^

The consistency

The OST Vitamin C has watery appearance, but a gel-like feel on the skin. It spreads easily on the skin and sinks in rapidly within a minute. It has an orange scent that disappears after a few minutes of application.

How to use it

I usually use it alone without mixing it with any of my other beauty product, but it can also be mixed with toners. In the picture below, I tried mixing it with a body butter and it works wonderfully as well.

The effects

Since I've only used it for two weeks, I haven't noticed any improvements in skin tightening. However, I'm happy to report that it does brighten my skin and Mr. G's, LOL. I gave him some of the serum and his face looks brighter each day. Apart from brightening, my skin feels soft and smooth without having a greasy or sticky finish.

Priced at USD $24.99 at, it is one of the affordable antioxidants out there. I've used one before and that one cost me around Rp 500,000. If you are someone who wants a brighter, softer, smoother skin with antioxidant benefit, you can try out this Vitamin C from O.S.T.

Have you tried any antioxidants in your skincare routine? Let me know in the comments below and until then, I'll see you later~

Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence Review

Hello, lovelies~ A few weeks ago, I was browsing Gmarket when I saw a promotion on a brand that is new to me called Secret Key. The promotion was a buy 1 get 1 30 ml miniature of their Starting Treatment Essence. Rumored to be a dupe of the SK-II Facial Treatment Essence, I bought it and tried it out.

Dine With Me: Hakata Ikkousha

Hello, lovelies~ If you live in Jakarta, particularly near Pantai Indah Kapuk or Muara Karang, you would be very familiar with Hakata Ikkousha. For those who aren't familiar with it, it is a ramen restaurant. Since my love for noodles (and their kind) is never ending, we went there a few weekends ago.

The place is quite spacious for a ramen place, probably because they're that good. They have sofa options for those who want to lounge around after eating their bowl of ramen. I didn't snap pictures of the interior as I was fumbling over the menu and what to order.

Why fumble, Phanie? Have you never been to Ikkousha before?
Yep. I have never been to Ikkousha before.
There. I said it.
Ya' happy?!

Anyway, my brother (the regular) suggested the Special Light broth for me since I'm not such a big fan of pork-based ramen and there isn't any shoyu or shio broth. I prefer shoyu or shio based broth because it suits my palette better and it is way less richer compared to pork-based broth. My brother ordered the Special Light Tam Tam and Mr. G chose the usual Special broth.

Mine was the first one to reach the table. The ramen was cooked to my liking, which is a bit chewy. The broth is not too overwhelmingly rich, but it is still too rich for my personal preference. However, if you are a fan of pork-based broths, I have a feeling you may enjoy the ramen here. I forgot to take a picture of Mr. G's dish, but it looks quite similar to mine. ^_^;;

We ordered a few side dishes, namely Chicken Karaage and Yaki gyoza. I didn't really enjoy the gyoza because their bottoms are not that crispy. Their taste is good, though. As for the Chicken Karaage, I like this the most. It has a crunchy texture on the outside and a juicy, tender chicken meat that is slightly sweet and savory. Accompanied with the mayonaise, I can eat this with a bowl of rice, hahaha..

There's also the mini chasu don that we ordered just because we wanted to see how it tasted like. I think it's okay, nothing special.

Overall, I enjoyed the food, Chicken Karaage in particular, at Hakata Ikkousha. I can see why people line up all the time just to eat a bowl of ramen in this place. As for me, my search continues for the perfect shoyu ramen, hahaha..

What do you think of this place? Have you tried it or do you have any ramen favorites? Let me know in the comments below. I love to hear your suggestions! Until then, I'll see you later~ ^_^

DOAPJ DIY: Hair Detangling Spray

Hello, lovelies~ I'm in the process of growing out my hair because I want a different hairstyle. However, I need to make it a little longer to be able to cut it the way I want. My hair has never gotten this long before, so I've never had problems with tangles before. Since I'm too cheap to buy a hair detangling spray, I'm making my own simple version that has been used (probably) all over the world.

Too Cool For School Dinoplatz Lost Identity

Hello, lovelies~ Lately, I've been purchasing quite a few lip products from lipstick to lip balm. Don't know why, though. A couple of months ago, Too Cool For School collaborated with Hatori Sando to create the Dinoplatz collection.

I grew up liking dinosaurs, I even planned on being an archaeologist when I was little. Ichthyosaur, Plesiosaurs, and Stegosaurus are some of my favorites. I even theorized (back then) that Nessie is a plesiosaur that got trapped in that lake. Hahaha.. Anyway, I saw this collection and loved it, so I bought a lip color and makeup pouch.

The Body Shop Beautifying Oil Shea Butter Review

"Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out. " Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ If you've been a long time reader, you may already know that I am devoiding any silicone or its derivatives in my hair care products. From then on, I find it hard to find a leave on treatment for my hair since my ends are sometimes frizzy.

I tend to sleep on my sides, tossing and turning until morning comes, so the ends of my hair always gets frizzy. If I try sleeping on my back, I instantly get a headache the next morning. So, when I was given this for review purposes, I tried it out.

Beauty Treats Indonesia April Box

Hello, lovelies~ Yesterday was probably a dreadful evening for everyone in Jakarta. When it rains, traffic will surely follow, so I was stuck for an hour trying to get home from Pluit to Ancol. I'm like, "What in seven Gods?!". Hahaha, luckily, I have my phone and Flipboard app to make me forget about the traffic.

When I got home, there was a box waiting for me outside my room with the label Beauty Treats Indonesia. I can't tell you how happy it is to come home to a surprise that I have to unravel in front of the camera. So, let's just start the pics, shall we? *too tired to think of words*

After I ripped gently unravel the ribbon, I was quite surprised to find the inside. It has quite a few popular brands that I'm familiar with. Wanna know what's inside?

Hahaha, can't really see much, huh? Okay, I'll show you one by one what is inside this month's Beauty Treats Indonesia box. ^_^

They have vouchers from several well-known brand such as NYX, The Balm, etc. The box came with a small magazine that lists the things inside the box along with their full information.

The magazine states that I were to receive Princess Syahrini lashes, but I got the Olga Lydia version instead. Not sure if this is supposed to happen or they ran out of Syahrini lashes. =/

I think for Rp 95,000, the first box is quite impressive, but I can't really say much about it yet as this is only the first box, which tends to be extravagant. I reckon they'll come with 7-8 samples maximum in their next box. ^_^;;

I was glad to see new brands such as Perfumies, Orlane and Menard. I have yet to try Menard and Orlane, hence the excitement when I saw them in the box. I hope they find new brands to be included in the box, just to make it more exciting.

There are still sample sachets from L'Occitane, but that is excusable because I love the brand, hahaha.. Anyway, I've subbed to their 3 months service and I'll give an updated review afterwards. Meanwhile, you can always check out Beauty Treats Indonesia's website here.

So, have you subscribed to any of those beauty subscription boxes? Let me know in the comments below and until then, I'll see you later~

Her Name is Lola

Hello, lovelies~ As you may or may not know, Indonesia has been hit with a wave of beauty box subscriptions with various prices. In this post, I wanted to share with you one of the first beauty boxes in Indonesia called Lolabox. Well, it's the first one to arrive at my house, anyway. Thus, the definition of first, hehehe.. ^_^

My Current Favorite Method of Exfoliation

Hello, lovelies~ I wanted to share my experience using this method of exfoliation that I have been trying out for a month. I read about this before I even do it just to make sure that it would be fine. I'm sure you're all have heard about this method a few years back. It is face shaving.

Yep. You read right. I have been shaving my face for a month to see how well it helps my skin. Some of you may be surprised, but I have a high curiosity for things, so...

First, let me tell you why I even considered this as an exfoliating method. Earlier last month, my brother had a few acne on his face. The one with the yellow center part and all ready to be popped, LOL. I gave him a couple of medicine, but I notice that he never had an acne around his upper lip area and other areas that he shaved. So, I asked him whether or not this is true. He said that acne rarely shows up on those area where he shaved.

With that, my curiosity peaked and I started doing research on face shaving for women. Some of the sources say that it works as an exfoliator for the skin. The exfoliation part is achieved when the razor is moved across the skin, removing the dead skin cells, just like any other physical exfoliator does.

Another plus point of this method is the way my skin looks and feels afterwards. Not only does it look brighter, my skincare products sinks in more easily and quickly compared to when I haven't shaved. Also, I find applying foundation is just as easy now after shaving because it adheres a lot better on my skin. I love it!

I can't say much for thicker facial hair, though. My facial hair tends to be thin that it just look like fuzz. I do this once a week with my trusty (and pink!) razor right after face wash. I think I'll do an in-depth post on the steps and how-to later. For now, it's just kinda like an introduction post. ^_^

For those who are afraid that your hair may grow thicker after shaving can read the references below. You can also use Google scholar for more accurate journal articles. :)
