November and December 2013 Favorites

Tuesday, December 31, 2013

Hello, lovelies~ I forgot to do a monthly favorites last month, so I'll be combining it with this month's favorites. I've tried out a few new things in the skincare and makeup department, so here are my favorites.

Elizabeth Arden 8  Hour Lip Protectant
I got this at the airport on my way back from Singapore because it was on sale for just SGD 10.00. I don't know if that is cheap, but I've always wanted to try Elizabeth Aden products. At first I thought it was one of the hyped beauty products because everyone has been talking about it, but I was wrong.

This lip balm can retain the moisture on my lips for around 6-8 hours, given I don't eat or drink. Also, it helps to relieve any dry, cracked, or chapped lips. I am head over heels in love with this right now!

Anime

My Favorite Slice Of Life Anime 2013

Sunday, December 29, 2013

Hello, lovelies~ I'm back with another anime picks for 2013. Well, that is my pick, if you don't mind. I have already picked the best anime (according to me) for 2013 right here. In this post, I am just gonna name a few of my favorites that is more of a 'slice of life' type anime.

Slice of life just really means everyday routine, so it doesn't have a specific goal or mission to achieve at the end of the season. It is just one of those anime that is relaxing to watch since it is casual and less stressful. Let's start.

Favorite Anime 2013

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Hello, lovelies~ It's the day after Christmas and I'm still feeling full from all those cakes, ice cream, and desserts. *burps*

I hope you all had a great holiday so far and got all the presents that you wished for. Now, for today's post, let's talk about anime. For those who don't know or have been living under a rock, anime is Japan animation. I have been watching them ever since I was a kid and hasn't stop now, lol.

To remember 2013, I wanted to list six anime that I have enjoyed over the past year. Most of these anime has a goal, so it's not a nichijou (slice of life) type of anime. I'll be posting that one later. So, here are my six favorite anime of 2013.

Essence Longlasting Lipstick Review

Thursday, December 26, 2013

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Have you heard of a beauty brand called Essence? I got a chance to buy some of their products when I was having a weekend getaway to Singapore. There is a small section of Essence at Watsons, so I spent quite some time choosing which items to take home with me.

Today, let's just talk about the lipstick first, shall we? The simple black lipstick case that is laced with a stripe of the shade inside makes it look 'expensive' when in actuality it is anything but that. The embossed 'e' logo on the lipstick adds just a touch of class.

Hello, lovelies~ Merry Christmas~ I hope you had a wonderful holiday so far, I know I am. Even though I am still working on Thursday, lol.

I want to review a Korean cosmetic brand that may be very familar to some of you as I noticed when I posted the picture on my instagram. Peripera has one of the cutest product packaging out there.

FreshKon Dezigner Contact Lens Review

Tuesday, December 24, 2013

"Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out. " Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ How many of you are regular users of contact lenses? My first contacts was back when I was in high school. I remember wearing one to my friend's sweet seventeen birthday party and I couldn't really see much because it wasn't meant for my astigmatism.

So, when I got into uni, my mom took me to an ophthalmologist and got hard lenses. Thankfully, it didn't last too long since it was so~ uncomfortable on my eyes. I got back to using glasses, but now I have a set of contacts (soft) to use for photos or when I'm applying my face mask.

Anyway, after that very long story/intro, I have never worn colored contacts before this post. FreshKon sent me the Dezigner line for review in the color Orange Solitaire. Thank you, FreshKon team!  It comes in a white box with a small window to show the contacts.

The Dezigner collection has three shades to choose from namely Pink Solitaire, Aqua Solitaire, and Orange Solitaire. Apparently, there is a green shade, but I don't think FreshKon Indonesia carry that shade.

Hello, lovelies~ Rainy days are often associated with soups to warm the body. In this case, I associate it with ramen! When I was in Singapore a few weeks ago, I tried out a new ramen place in Bugis Junction with a friend, but later came back with my brother and Mr. G. So, you can probably tell already that I like the ramen that I came twice to their shop.

During my first visit with my friend, we both didn't know the name of the shop even after we finished eating there. Turns out the shop's name is Menya Musashi Takatora. I don't know if they are related with the Menya Musashi Ramen in Orchard, anyone?

Himalaya Herbals Oil Control Lemon Face Wash Review

Wednesday, December 11, 2013

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions are honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ Himalaya Herbals is back in town! In this case, I mean they're back in Watsons Kelapa Gading where I bought most of the face wash, except for the neem variant because I have already tried it back in 2010. You can read about it here (Neem Foaming Face Wash) or the Apricot Scrub here

Today, I want to talk about the Lemon Face Wash which has a purpose of controlling excess oil (sebum) on ones face. Packaged in a clear squeeze tube, this face wash has a sticker in the front and back, exposing the sides.

On the front of the tube, it notifies us that it is free from parabens, SLS/SLES, and phtalates. Absence of SLS means that the product won't be as drying as one with SLS. The lemon fruit extract is the third ingredient on the list, which is rare to see in most 'herbal-based' beauty products. It still contains fragrance, so sensitive skin type may want to be on the look out while using this.

If you look closely through the sides of the clear tube, there are tiny blue beads inside the product. I don't feel that these are abrasive enough to be called a scrub. It doesn't say anything on the description what these beads do.

For a face wash that is devoid of SLS, it sure creates a lot of foam (bubbles!). I had no problem in creating thick bubbles, especially when I use my face net.

There is citrusy scent when I use this to wash my face that it is a little too overpowering for my senses. Despite that, it does make my face clean and oil-free without the tight sensation after patting it dry with a towel.

Unfortunately, my skin hates it. How do I know? Well, let's just say that the snob I call my facial skin gave me a 'little' warning above my lips. It's kinda like they're saying, " Stop abusing me with that face wash or I'll launch even more zits to the surface! You have been warned." Thankfully, my facial skin doesn't talk to me that way. Geez, that would've been weird/scary/creepypasta.com-ish.
This baby pops out after 2 days of using the face wash. *sobs*
All in all, Himalaya Herbals Lemon Face Wash is good for those in search of herbal-based beauty products. They are also free from parabens, SLS/SLES, and phtalates for those of you who are turning your beauty routine green. It does a great job in reducing excess oil on my combination-type skin, but it does break me out. *insert sad face*

Have you tried any of the Himalaya Herbals products? Let me know in the comments below on what your recommendations would be, I love to hear them! Until then, I'll see you later~

Sunday, December 08, 2013

Hello, lovelies~ The year 2013 is coming to a close in less than a month! I feel excited since I am always in a great mood when it's December. Even though there is no snow, Christmas is still here, yeay~

I thought it would be appropriate to give out awards for beauty products as I have done previously on this post (2012) and here (2011). In this post, I will be giving out awards for skincare items that has been great in the year 2013.

I figured that there isn't much time left to test out a skincare product, so I'm giving out the awards earlier in the month. In case you don't know, I usually test out skin care for 28 days before I review them. ^_^

New Things to Try

Saturday, December 07, 2013

Hello, lovelies~ I hope you've had a great week so far because I know I did. Just got back from Singapore and wanted to show you a couple of things I bought while I was there. I'm glad that December is here because it means that I get to buy Christmas-related things, yeay~ Let's just start, shall we?

I joined a contest from Sephora Singapore a few weeks ago and I won! It's like a dream since I  rarely won those contests ever in my life. I was at a seminar when they emailed me saying I won, I let out a small squeal of happiness when I read it.

Even told Mr. G to pinch because surely I was dreaming, but I'm not. Yeah! It's been a while since I wanted to try Tarte, so this will be a good starter kit.

Hello, lovelies~

All of my makeup disappeared!

Nah, I’m just kidding, tee hee.

However, it would be really sad and frustrating if it were to really happen, huft. I was tagged by Shop For Cheapo to do this and if you have done yours, leave me the link on the comment section because I would love to know yours.

Anyway, let’s say all of your makeup disappeared one day without a trace, what would be the ten makeup items you would repurchase to slowly rebuild your makeup collection? Here are my picks.

Rojukiss Pore Tightening Pack Review

Monday, November 25, 2013

" Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out." Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ For those with combination oily or oily skin types are probably already familiar with clay masks since they help in absorbing all of those excess oils on the face. I was looking for a new clay mask when WISHTREND sent me the Rojukiss Pore Tightening Pack.

Unlike other masks that are packaged in a jar, Rojukiss packaged theirs into a blue squeeze tube. Thumbs up for them because I can't stand jar containers due to their unhygienic property. I mean, aside from double dipping, the prolonged and repeated exposure to air will reduce the quality of the product, yes? So, Rojukiss, you're off to a good start in my book. :)

I thought that it lacks the English version of ingredients, but it was there inside the box, yeay~ It contains Kaolin, which is a basic clay mask ingredient that sucks all of the excess oil on the face. Bentonite is an ingredient similar to that, still awesome, don't worry.

The clay mask has light blue color  with a subtle floral scent that I like. I'm not usually into perfumed or fragranced beauty products, but I like it~ As with most clay masks, Rojukiss also has that thick-clay-like texture.

To use it, I squeeze a dollop of product on my fingers and continue to spread it all over my face. Despite the thick consistency, it is easy to spread it all over my face. It applies blue at first when it is still wet, but as it dries slowly, the color turns lighter. No, it's not magic, calm down, :)

As it was drying on my face, I can feel a tightening sensation as if my skin is being 'massaged'. This is one of the reasons why I prefer clay masks over sheet masks. Also, I tend to wash off the mask as the clay is starting to dry, not when it's dry and cracked. This ensures the moisture is still maintained, while getting the excess oil off my face. On my combination skin, it doesn't dry out my U zone due to this method.

The picture below shows the before and after picture for comparison. After the clay mask is washed off, my face feels much smoother and no more flaky skin around my nose. Ignore the redness on my left eyebrow because that was caused by an incidental scratch, lol. My skin looks more glowy and brighter afterwards, I love it!

Since it is a pore tightening pack, here is a picture of my pores. Excuse the nasty blackheads that are still lingering there, it's not time for a facial yet, :) It doesn't tighten as good as it is in removing all the excess oil on my face. However, it does reduce some of the appearance of my large pores, so it's good.

Overall, I think I am really falling in love head over heels with this clay mask (or pack, as they say) from Rojukiss. It does the job in removing any excess oils on my face without the overwhelming dryness that a usual clay mask does. My pores are the same size, but my face is much smoother than before using it. I really enjoyed using this after a hectic day where my skin just feels 'blah'. This is a real savior!

Review Tony Moly Backstage Gel Eyeliner

Wednesday, November 20, 2013

“Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money. I am neither affiliated with this company nor am I being paid to write this post. My opinions honest and my own.” Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ This product that I am about to review is the second eyeliner I tried back then when I was still a newbie in beauty blogging (2011). It was on sale and I thought it'd be a great idea to try out a gel eyeliner. I've forgotten about it until Tony Moly went on a promotion, so I bought it again. The only difference is I bought the purple shade back in 2011, instead of the black I bought a couple of months ago.

The packaging is unique, but space-consuming at the same time. I guess the pointy end makes it a little less travel friendly. However, Tony Moly inserted a small brush at the pointy end, so there is no need to a bring another brush if you're on the go.

Having said all that, I have prepped myself with a new lip balm that I've had about a month ago, I believe. Here is what I think of it.

Bouncia Body Wash Review

Friday, November 08, 2013

"Disclosure: This product was sent to me for review purposes in exchange for my honest opinion after trying it out." Complete disclosure here

Hello, lovelies~ I received a package the other day that kinda surprised me because I didn't remember ordering anything online. However, my memory was refreshed when I saw the shipper's name, Kawaii Beauty Japan. Thank you! Not gonna lie, I opened the package kinda like a savage who has been stranded on a desert island for weeks on end, lol. Anyway, it made my day when I saw the Bouncia label on the bottle. I rushed to the shower to give this baby a try and after a couple of showers, here are my thoughts on it.

Bouncia was first released in 2003 and has been popular ever since then for their 'whipped-cream-like' bubbles. This is one of reasons why I am so keen on trying out Bouncia. I mean, who can resist taking a shower with those dense, luxurious, making-me-feel-like-a-princess bubbles? Come on~
