Mamechiyo For shu uemura Kimono Party

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Hello, lovelies~ Last Saturday, shu uemura held a Mamechiyo Kimono Party at Sogo Mall Kelapa Gading. On this event shu uemura collaborated with Mamechiyo, who is a modern kimono artist from Japan. She was inspired by the alluring flowers of Japan; Fuji, Sakura, Botan and Ume. The collection was also inspired by the fresh colors of the spring season.

On this event, shu uemura launched their signature cleansing oils and UV BB mousse that was limited edition products as they have different prints on the bottles.

They also showcased the kimonos from Mamechiyo collection right next to the limited edition shu uemura cleansing oils and BB mousse. The combination of colors immediately reminded of a playful yet serene season of spring.

The guests to the event got polaroid photos taken by the shu uemura staff. We got our pictures taken with the polaroid, which was kinda neat. The picture above is taken with the brand manager.

After exploring the new Mamechiyo collaboration products, a fashion show was held to show off contemporary kimono made by students of the Raffles Design Institute. There were 8 designs in total based on the four exquisite Japanese flowers.

I find the kimonos are both cute, girly and edgy all at the same time. The yellow ones are the ones I favor. It shows off a traditional side of an ordinary Japanese kimono, but few tweaks and it becomes an edgy, daring piece of fabric.
Mr. Hendrix focused on making the model beautiful with soft pastel colors

The final look with all the spring-inspired colors
True beauty is when a woman smiles from the depths of her heart
After the fashion show, there was a makeover demo done by Mr. Hendrix. He used pastel colors inspired by the Mamechiyo collection, embracing the colors of spring. The model wore a sweet pink kimono with flowers as prints. I wish I had a kimono.

The winners of the competition
Before the event ended, it's time to announce the winner of the kimono design competition. It was delightful to see that my favorite kimono won. I wanted the designer to win because it was such a beautiful yet edgy design.

There were refreshments provided by shu uemura, which are adorable cupcakes and cool drinks. Oh, there was a wall that has tons of eyelashes, from natural to dramatic ones. I'll have to check them out sometimes.

Me with the brand manager of shu ^_^

It was a splendid evening filled with makeup demo, fashion shows, and polaroid photos. I was grateful to be given the opportunity to attend the Kimono Party by shu uemura. If you would like to check out the limited edition and colorful prints, visit your nearest shu uemura counter for more information and details.

Caring Colours

Review and Swatch: Caring Colours Happy Lip Colour

Thursday, May 31, 2012

Hello, lovelies~ A week ago, I purchased a lip product from Caring Colours' collection called Happy Series. They have an eyeshadow trio and a 24 shades of lip color. I have been eyeing this particular product because of the unique balm in the center of the lipstick, promising a vibrant color and moisturizing feel on the lips.

The lipstick has a typical packaging like most lipsticks do. However, the color theme on the packaging is just too sweet to look at.

On the lipstick cap is a polka dot pattern that kind of makes the lipstick look cute and adorable. The middle of the lipstick has a clear plastic see-through to see the shades, even though it's not really that clear. The lower part of the lipstick tube is the brand's label. The tube is made of plastic, so it's lightweight to carry around, although it feels a bit dodgy.

The lipstick itself is unique as it has a white moisturizing balm in the center of the lipstick. I can see this being one of the first items for those starting with makeup. The lipstick applies smoothly without any streaks and feels very comfortable on my lips. It's not drying as any other lipsticks I've tried before. They have a wide selection of colors, categorizing mainly into beiges, pinks, reds and peaches. However, after a few hours, I started to feel a little drying, but not as much.

The pigmentation of this lipstick is superb. One swipe and I achieved an opaque color on my lips. It has a hint of sheen finish, but definitely not a shiny finish, provided by a gloss. The pictures below will show swatches on my lips and it will be loads of pictures, so brace yourselves. ^_^

The staying power of the lipstick is quite impressive on my lips. After a meal of nasi tim and a cup of tea, the color faded slightly in the center, but the edges are still there. Even though it isn't all there like a stain, but some of the colors are still noticeable. Quite great coming a moisturizing lipstick.

Overall, the color pay off is great while still being a an affordable product. I underestimated this lip color, thinking that it wouldn't be that great in color pigmentation and moisturizing factor as advertised. However, I was proven wrong by this local brand. Now, I feel like buying all of the shades. Great.

Pedicure At Home With Julep

Wednesday, May 30, 2012

Hello, lovelies~ Nails can be one of the body parts that I often forgot to take care of. Probably because I'm not that diligent when it comes to pushing back the cuticles and swiping nail polish on each nails. Even if I wanted to get my nails done at a salon, I'm sometimes really lazy to do it.

Yesterday, I was browsing and found a pedicure at home kit from Julep. I've heard good things about Julep Maven from youtubers that subscribed to their beauty box. The unique and cute thing about Julep nail polish is the name of each polish. They tend to have girls names, such as Chloe, Brooklyn, Malin, Kate, Reese, etc. They say the reason behind it is because those women inspired them to be gorgeous, daring and different. Still, a cute way of naming your products.

There isn't a Julep counter here in my location, so I'll have to order online if I want to get my hands on them. Their nail polish bottle looked really cute and different from other nail polishes. It's elongated, unlike other wide bottle. I can see this fitting perfectly in my makeup bag and I can use it whenever I chipped a nail.

I'll update you on what I bought from Julep and how I like their polishes once I get my hands on them. For now, I think I'll gawk at them from afar behind my computer monitor. o_O

20 Years of Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat

Hello, lovelies~ The year 2012 is a joyous year for Yves Saint Laurent. For 20 years, Yves Saint Laurent's Touche Eclat has been the symbol of illuminating, glowy makeup. Kind of like a hero of the light, I would say. Battling all the dullness on the face.

Last Sunday, 27 May 2012, I went to the Yves Saint Laurent event to join in the celebration of the 20 years anniversary (Thank you, YSL!). On this wonderful occasion, YSL launches a limited edition Touche Eclat that has gold, elevated streaks all over the packaging.

I got there quite early at 10.30 and met with Franky, better known as Rebzone. Afterwards, all the other came one by one. The event was held right in front of SOGO department store, beautifully decorated with gold balloons, fulfilling the theme of radiance from the Touche Eclat.

The collection of Touche Eclat was placed on a private stand with all the shades from number 1 to 8. Making the world a brighter place. The packaging is efficient because all you have to do is click it like you would a pen and product comes out. The PR told me a story about how some women have these in their pencil cases so they can touch up as they go! o_O

Aside from the world famous highlighter, there are other products that are introduced as well. I've already met the famous glossy stains that stains the lips yet gives a glossy finish if applied in two coats. I'm not paid by YSL to say this, but their glossy stains are out of this world! They're awesome!

They also have their new skincare line, Youth Liberator. The PR suggested I try the facial foam from their skincare line as it is one of the best products. She also recommended the Youth Liberator serum as it is lightweight whilst slowing the aging process by keeping the skin radiant, luminous and plump.

While some of use are engaged in trying out the products, one of us, Ms. Mada, had a makeover performed by the YSL MUA. On the picture above, she had her face cleansed before applying fresh makeup from YSL. I didn't stay till the end to see the final look of the makeover, but I'm sure it was gorgeous as she always have been.

They also provided macaroons, colorful ones. I have to go home early because my father had his birthday celebration at home. So, I didn't stay for the second event at 1.30 pm.

Even though, I didn't stay till the end of the event that day, I'm pleased to have been included in the celebration of their 20th anniversary. I'm sure that Yves Saint Laurent will continue to create breathtaking cosmetics to further enhance the natural beauty of women all over the world.
P.S: Check out my take on the YSL Rouge Pur Couture Vernis A Levres Glossy Stain just by clicking the title. Or else. ^_^

Phanie's Prized Products : May 2012 Edition

Tuesday, May 29, 2012

Hello, lovelies~ Are you ready for my newly formatted monthly faves post? Well, it's not that new considering I've been using this in my previous posts. Nonetheless, I present to you my May favorites.

1. TheFaceShop Arsainte ECO-THERAPY Extreme Moisture Tonic with Essential. Wow! That's quite a mouthful, isn't it? This toner turned a non-toner-believer like me into a toner-addict. My combination/dry skin loves this and this is already my second-heading-to-third bottle.

2. Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid Face Wash. I love the gentle property of this face wash. It doesn't strip away all of  the oils on my face harshly. My face feels moisturized even after the face washing session.

3. MAKE OVER Creamy Lust Lipstick Shade 02 in Retro Pink. One of the few bright pinks that I own and love. The shade itself is really girly.

4. SILKYGIRL Long-Wearing Eyeliner 02 Black Brown. I don't want to jinx it, but this may very well be my holy grail pencil eyeliner. The color stayed for a long time and it doesn't need sharpening.

5. MAKE OVER Perfect Cover Two Way Cake in 02 Sheer Pink. I like to use this when I'm in a hurry because it's easy to use and blend all over my face. The powder feels light, which is suitable for everyday use.

6. L'oreal Paris Double Extension Curl Mascara. Another probably holy grail from the mascara department. It has a dry formula, perfect for thin eyelashes like mine. It holds my curls all day long. I LOVE it!!

What are your beauty product favorites this month?
