Dolly Wink Otona #9 Natural Dolly

I finally bought it. A set of Dolly Wink false eyelashes from the Otona collection. I didn't get one from the first collection because I find them a bit too dramatic. However, this collection has some pretty natural looking lashes, so I can't hold back and caved in.

I just love the packaging of the eyelashes. Probably because of the Japanese origin, everything has to be cute, with all the flowers and whatnot. Another evidence of good advertising is they show you how the lashes are going to look once applied on the eyes.

The set comes with two pairs of eyelashes and a tube of lash glue. For a Rp 170,000 eyelashes, they're quite expensive. However, I still haven't tested them yet, so it may be worth the money.

The band is flexible and not stiff at all. It's super easy to remove them from their glued-on-casings.

So, before showing you what I look like with eyelashes, let me show you my pathetic eyelashes. You can see the right eye (your left) looks like it doesn't have any eyelashes, but it does. It's just that the right eyelid is super droopy that the fold disappeared and 'eating' the eyelashes.

Once I put them on my eyelids, I can't feel them at all~! It also looks natural and not too dramatic. I like how it made my eye shape more elongated and wide. I didn't apply any of the eyelash glue because I'm just gonna take it off in a jiffy. However, my initial impression on these lashes are guh-reat~ Note that I'm not into gyaru makeup, I just like the packaging and this type of eyelash. I can't do gyaru la~ Too hard for me~ *sudden Singlish* >.<

Anyways, here is how it looks with my whole face included. Excuse the no makeup face. I just came home, wiped all of my makeup when the package arrived. So tiring to wear makeup again la~ I look so dreamy and ..... I can't even find the words for it, lol ^____^

Here is another one with a pedo smile, lol~ Notice I messed up the hair a little bit for effect, which turns out to be a fail, instead. I can imagine myself using this for an everyday look.

What have I gotten myself into? I know I'm just gonna buy more these lashes soon.. aaaaaaa~ never mind.. as long as they're good, right? ^_^ v

Review: SANA Nameraka Honpo Makeup Base

Lately, the weather has been a lot warmer because it hasn't been raining consecutively. The weather has changed to cloudy days and sometimes sunny ones, but with less rain. Hence, I started using makeup bases again because I fear my makeup will wear off due to sweat. I still have my NYX green primer, but currently I'm using the one from SANA.

SANA Nameraka Honpo Makeup Base SPF 19/PA ++

Ingredients

How I Use It

Before applying foundation or BB cream, I squeeze a pea sized amount on the back of my hand and spread it evenly all over the face.

What I Like About It
  • The price starts at Rp 155,000 at an online shop. I know it looks pricey, but I only used a small amount each time, so it will last a long time.
  • It comes in a squeeze tube packaging
  • I think it contains silicone because it gives a smooth finish to my face
  • It doesn't dry out my face
  • The product made my face looks slightly brighter
  • It evens out my skin tone and reduces the appearance of redness on my cheeks
  • So far, I haven't had any bad reactions to it (acne, redness or itchiness)
  • It provides a smooth base so that I can apply bb cream/foundation easily
  • It has a satin finish, in between dewy and matte
  • My face doesn't feel sticky or greasy after application
  • It has SPF 19/PA ++, which is great to be used during daytime.
What I Hate About It
  • There is no SANA counter here in Jakarta, so I have to pre-order it the next time I want to buy it
Summary

Overall, this base suitable to be used in the hot, humid Jakarta weather (at least on me). The texture is not sticky nor greasy and once blended to the face, it feels lightweight as if I'm wearing nothing.

I would recommend this to :

  • All skin types

Review: Beauty Credit Ecopure BB Sun Base SPF 46/PA ++

As you may already know, I am a tinted moisturizer/BB cream addict. I'm not that into foundation since my skin tend to break out sometimes if I wear them every day. Last week, as I was strolling at the mall, I went to Beauty Credit and found a bb cream/ base that contains sunscreen. Being the addict that I am, I decided to give it a try and bought it. After a week of using it, here is what I think of it.

Beauty Credit Ecopure Danahan BB Sun Base SPF 46/PA ++

Ingredients
To be added later as soon as I found the box. Sorry about that. ^_^;; I lost the box -_-""

How I Use It

After l use my lotion (toner), I squeeze a pea size amount on the back of my hand and spread it evenly all over my face.

What I Like About It
  • It is available at the counter (Emporium Pluit Mall)
  • The packaging is sturdy with a twist cap on the bottom
  • There are no irritating ingredients on the top half of the list
  • I didn't detect any strong scents
  • It has a high sun protection
  • It feels lightweight on my face
  • As a base, it gives a satin finish ( in between dewy and matte)
  • The tint reduces the redness on my face
  • It didn't break me out
  • I didn't feel any greasy or sticky feeling after the application
  • It can conceal my small acne scars

What I Hate About It
  • The price starts at Rp 300,000 which is expensive for a sunscreen + base
  • It didn't have a good oil control because I get oily in an hour
Summary

Overall, I like the practicality of having a sunscreen and base in one product. The high level of sunscreen makes it appropriate to use during the daytime. The lightweight texture of the sun base makes it enjoyable for everyday wear.

I would recommend this to :

  • Someone who has normal/dry skin type
  • Someone who likes a satin finish
  • Someone who likes a two-in-one product

Nichijou : Angelic Day at Angel-in-us Coffee

Last weekend, I went to Lotte Mart for the usual weekly grocery shopping. Nothing special, just the usual necessities of everyday life. ^^

After grocery shopping, I looked for a place to sit and wait for Mr. G to finish his tasks. This is my chance to try Angel-in-us Coffee that I heard from Chino-chan.
Scrumptious cakes
They have a collection of magazines and mugs that's not for sale yet ^^;;
Even the tray has angels ^______^
That's the barista that made my drink. He's goo~d ^_^

The 'counter' is neat with a cute tissue available

As I step inside, I can already see the cute angel mascots on the mugs, trays, etc. The baristas are friendly and polite when they took my order. I ordered a hot Cafe Mocha and my brother got a Chocolate Croissant.
Isn't the mug just the cutest?
The Cafe Mocha is a perfect balance between the coffee and chocolate, making it one of my new favorite drinks. The foam that sits on top of the beverage is fluffy, which is an excellent touch to the beverage. Since I'm not a big fan of coffee, I prefer a hint of sweetness rather than bitterness, so this is the perfect blend for me.
The door handles are wings-shaped. What could be cuter than that?! ^___^
I absolutely will come back for more coffee or if I just wanted to sit and hang out with friends or relatives. The atmosphere of the cafe is relaxing with many sofas, so almost everyone will definitely get a sofa seat.

P.S: I can't wait to get their mugs once they're on sale. I think I'll get the one with wings. ^^

Know Your Ingredients : Butylated Hydroxytoluene

Continuing my series of "Know Your Ingredients" in the new year, 2012. This time, it's about an ingredient that is quite often found in most of the skin care items. Let's start.

The reason behind this post is because I bought a body lotion that contains BHT. I heard rumors about it being highly carcinogenic, but until now I haven't found solid evidence that points to that direction.

Butylated Hydroxytoluene
What It Is
It's also known as butylhydroxytoluene or BHT. The molecule is lipophilic (fat-soluble) organic compound. [1]

What It's Used For
It is an anti-oxidant that is used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, jet fuelsrubberpetroleum products, electrical transformer oil, and embalming fluid. [1]

BHT is an anti-oxidant, which is used as a preservative to prevent foods or cosmetics from oxidizing, thus getting spoiled.

Is It Dangerous?
So far, there are loads of articles in certain websites, without any references or evidence. I checked on the FDA website and they stated that BHT is generally recognized as safe. [2]
According to a source, BHT is not carcinogenic, but more towards causing allergies, which depends on the tolerance of the individual.

To sum up, so far, I still haven't found hard evidence that relates BHT and cancer. I know there are a lot of websites that said it causes cancer, but it doesn't really state the reference or source. I'm still going to keep looking, but this is all for now.

Sources
