Review: Maybelline Jelly Glow Blush

Wednesday, August 01, 2012

Hello, lovelies~ A few weeks ago, I bought the Maybelline Jelly Glow blushes at Watsons Singapore. I have been wanting to get the bouncy blush, the ones from the US. There are four shades (I think) in this collection, but I only chose two of them.

The blush came in a white plastic packaging and a flip top transparent lid. I feel these are smaller compared to their US cousins, even though I haven't felt the US version. Packaging-wise, it looked and felt cheap, but then again, it is cheap. The shades are written on the bottom of the pan.

Let's start things off with the looks of the blush. The appearance of the blush is similar to a baked blush. However, when I touched it, it has a solid jelly or agar texture that is soft and springy. I felt a certain happiness whenever I finished applying this blush on my cheeks.

This is obviously a cream-type blush that turns to a powdery finish. If I just pat the blush, the colors is not really that pigmented. I really have to pat and swipe the blush to get the color to come out on my cheeks.

The shades I picked is a pink and a peach shade since I thought these two would be the safest shades to work with. This is what I commonly do if I'm out buying stuff without reading up the review first. In other words, impulse buy. The upper side is 02 Fresh Pink, which is quite a bright pink and the lower side is 04 Sweet Momo, which is a regular peach colored blush. Both has a sheen, satin finish. They perform as an average blush on my skin, making a disappearing act after around 2 hours on my cheeks. Or is it because my cheeks turned red on its own that the colors look like they're gone? I'll get back to you on that later.

Overall, this is a likeable blush on even from the first time I saw it. How can I resist not loving the round, bouncy shape of the blush? I would agree if someone were to point of the gimmicky feel to it, but live a little, why don't you? However, it is still applies like a regular blush to me as it starts to fade within the two hour mark. Still, a decent blush and an eye candy to look at!

    1. As stated on my post, I haven't had the chance to experience first hand the US version of this blush, so I can't really compare them side by side. ∩__∩

Well, let's just hope these blushes make their way to Maybelline counters in Indonesia. ∩__∩
