Review: Coverderm Classic Concealing Foundation

Friday, June 08, 2012

Hello, lovelies~ Remember the Coverderm event from last week and their amazing foundation showcase? The model with the birthmark on her hand and how it was covered by the Classic Concealing foundation? Well, I tried the foundation the other day. Let's unbox the foundation to find out more.

The beige box has all of the description of the foundation, along with the ingredients list. When I opened the box, the product is packaged in a leaf-shaped, beige jar. It came with a white spatula and a white triangle makeup sponge. There's also a leaflet for proper application as they have steps on how to apply it and conceal your imperfections.

Moving on to the ingredients list, they only have eleven ingredients listed there! *gasp* No, that's a good thing, chillax, people. The foundation is mainly made of Paraffinum Liquidum or Mineral Oil and Cera Alba (Beeswax), which is emollient in nature. Emollients work by retaining moisture on the skin, so the skin will be moist. For those having sensitivity towards mineral oil, please do a patch test before applying this foundation. For its oil absorbing property, it utilizes Talc as one of the ingredients. This foundation contains Parfum and Propylparaben, just so you know.

Since the packaging is in a jar, it's almost always a cream-textured product. When I twist open the jar, it has a white protective seal, but I dropped it on the floor, so I toss it. The foundation I received is shade number 14, which looks like a light beige.

The shade is too light on my skin, isn't it?
Coverage wise, it is definitely a full coverage foundation. With one single layer, I can cover most of my imperfections and my pores (slightly) without any primer. However, I do find this to be somewhat hard to blend with fingers, so I use a damp makeup sponge to help blend in the foundation on my face. At first, I feel the foundation to be heavy when I pat it all over my face, but as I blend it evenly, it doesn't feel as heavy in the first place.

As for my sun spot on my left cheek, it is concealed after a 3 layers of the foundation. I would use a concealer, but I wanted to test out its 'camouflage' claim. You can see that it is 'hidden' perfectly with the foundation.

For my huge pores, I tried covering them with only the foundation and no face primer whatsoever. I'm surprised to see that it covers most of my pores, but I can still see some of them.

This would be one of the very few cream foundations that I have in my collection. Like all cream foundation, I scoop some foundation and placed it on the back of my hand. I would continue to rub them on the back of my hand, so the texture would be slightly thinner and easier to blend. I, then, proceed to dab it on some areas of my face and pat it evenly all over the face.

This foundation has an impressive staying power as it is able to even out my skin tone despite all of my activities and sweating. I guess it is waterproof. However, it doesn't have remarkable oil control as my face is already shiny at the 3 hour mark. For those with oily skin, I would recommend using a mattifying powder after the foundation and blot regularly to prevent a greasy face in photos. Aside from the oiliness, I still see an even skin tone with this foundation after 3 hours. Also, it doesn't feel heavy or clingy, despite it being a cream foundation.
Just me being vain
Overall, I like the coverage of the foundation because I can use it on special occasions without being too cakey. However, it does contain mineral oil, so I have to be careful since I do have a sensitivity towards it. Despite it being a full coverage foundation, it doesn't feel heavy or sticky as long as I apply it with a damp sponge, I guess. I'll update you guys on the price. Until then, I'll see you in my next post~
