Review: bareMinerals Original SPF 15 Foundation

Friday, June 22, 2012

Hello, lovelies~ I know I have been reviewing liquid foundations or BB creams, but here is another superstar that I used all the time during summer. Mineral makeup. I first used one from Everyday Minerals, but I have been using bareMinerals lately.

The packaging is in a jar that has a click lock system, so that chances of spilling the powder is reduced. It has a black cap that has an inscription of the brand.

Using it is easy as well. All I have to do is open the cap, twist the safety cap to expose the holes and put some powder foundation on the cap. I take a round kabuki brush, swirl it on the cap, tap the excess and buff it evenly all over my face. If I have dry skin patches, I mist the brush with water before buffing it onto my skin.

There are two formulations to the foundation, an original and a matte. The foundation also has an sun protection factor of 15. My shade is W15 Light, which has a yellow undertone for fair skin.

I like the coverage that this foundation gives as it evens out my skin tone, yet still maintaining a natural look on my face. It can't conceal my dark spots and acne scars, but that doesn't matter. Why? I wanted a foundation that is able to even out my skin tone, reduce my redness, but is still light weight to be used for everyday routine.

As this is the original foundation, it has a semi matte or satin finish. If I wanted a matte finish for certain occasion, I usually pair this with the mineral veil to control the oil. On my combination skin, oil control is average, ranging around 2-3 hours.

Overall, if you have acne prone skin, sensitive skin, combination skin, do give this foundation a try since it does give a natural look, but is not too heavy on the face. Others who have tried using mineral makeup have noticed a reduced of acne appearance on their face. I do like the practicality and light weight feel of this foundation on my face, which makes it perfect for everyday use.
