Review: Olay Total Effects Touch of Foundation Day Cream SPF 15

Hello, lovelies~ I bought this product about a month ago and have totally forgotten about it until a few days a go.  I bought it because I thought I needed a tinted moisturizer just for days when I want to wear light makeup and too lazy to mix foundation and moisturizer together.

The packaging is the same bottle as the Olay Total Effects day cream. A cream to yellowish colored airless bottle with a black pump on top and a clear cap to close it off. The size of the bottle is quite safe to travel with because the cap is always attached safely, thus preventing a huge mess in my makeup bag.
As usual, Olay always have niacinamide as one of the top three ingredients, which is why I like this brand. Niacinamide can be used as a sunscreen for people with oily skin, however, the concentration needs to be 4% for it to work properly in terms of protecting you against the sun. It is also one of the cell communicating ingredients that helps repair and maintain the good structure of the skin. The brand is still using parabens, just in case you're one of the eco-conscious people.

The product has a thick consistency with a medium shade beige colored cream. The texture is almost similar to whipped cream that has been beaten to a stiff peak. Think of it like this. When I placed the product on the back of my hand that I tilt upside down, it didn't fall down. However, when you touch it, if feels very fluffy, fuwa fuwa as the Japanese said.

The scent is the same as the Olay Day Cream SPF 15, I don't really know how to explain it. It almost smells kinda creamy, a bit nauseating for my personal taste. Hmm, it has that buttery, nauseating (eneg) scent, lol. It really doesn't explain, does it?

I used this both when my skin is oily and combination with dry, flaky skin. It is too much moisture when my skin is oily and that increases the excess oil on my face. When my skin is dry and flaky, I thought this would hide my flaky skin by giving them moisture. However, my flaky skin is still noticeable to the general public. I guess I still have to exfoliate first if I do have flakes of skin hanging loose from my face, lol.

Now for the performance of the product. This 'tinted moisturizer' can even out my skin tone and reduce the redness I have on my cheeks and chin. My face definitely feels moisturized, but it feels slightly heavy once I finished blending it all over. After I finished applying it, my face feels a bit sticky that I feel the need to set it with powder to have a smooth finish. It doesn't minimize the appearance of my pores. They are still as large as they ever was, nowhere near small or refined or whatever. Since this does resemble a tinted moisturizer, the staying power isn't as great as a foundation is, of course.

Overall, the slightly heavy feeling and the stickiness is what disappointed me. I was hoping for a smooth, silicone-like finish, lightweight product suitable for everyday use. I do, however, like the skin tone enhancement property, where it evens out my skin tone and calms down the redness. I would recommend this to people who have a dry skin type. I would wear this at times when I needed to go out of the house a short moment and needed something practical to slab on my face.

  1. do you ever tried the moisturizer for acne skin one (from this line also)? yg ada cooling sensationnya katanya hehe.. i'm curious about that one. It said that it could moisture and healing acne prone. gatau d tapi si mbanya yg nawarin bener apa ga hehe

  3. iya d kayanya, soalnya bungkusnya lebi slim. tapi ga liat dalemnya.. hehe kalo misture day creamnya bagus ga? do you have a review about that one? would love to read it! :D

Kalo kulitku kan kadang kombinasi, kadang berminyak banget.. ^_^

  5. is tr nythng 4 xtrmly oily skin !!!

  6. Wah brarti Ce phanie cocok dunk pakai produk ini.
aq mau numpang cerita he he...
    thank u for sharing ^^

It feels that it clings on my face most of the times when I used it. :)
