Collective Haul of October

Sunday, October 30, 2011

Rather than doing separate haul posts, I thought I'll just gather them all together in one post. Hopefully I'll be able to do this every month, so you guys won't get bored of reading each haul posts. So, here are the things I bought this month in one single post.

Aloe Moistfull. Another version of the Moistfull series

It comes with a pump

The gift with purchase which is a tin from the Missing U! collection
I love this particular eyeshadow from NYX

It's just an ordinary matte black

Well, the name is pretty self-explanatory
My first cream blush from NYX
Sunscreen from Ristra. Not sure if this is a new product since I'm not too updated with this brand
A chemical sunscreen at an affordable price? Why not? ^^
I remember this specific variant from Vaseline not containing any sunscreen and now it does ^^

Just saw it at my supermarket near me. Washing hands will be fun

Stock up on my fave cleansing oil sheet ^^

The wax I used for my Halloween 2011 look

That's all of my October collective haul. All of these are not bought on the same day. I also bought some other necessities, such as toilet paper, paper towels, and other non-beauty related stuff, but I'm not going to post it here.

Doctor

Halloween 2011 : Zombie Doctor

Monday, October 24, 2011

I'm not usually excited for Halloween since I don't wear costumes or attend any ghoul-related-parties . However, this year, I decided to do posts about Halloween looks because I happen to have time and ideas, lol.

Anyway, to start off this series (I hope), I picked an easy look of a zombie-ish, undead doctor. At first, I wanted to do the slit mouth woman (Kuchisake Onna), but I don't have the appropriate brown coat and my hair isn't long enough. So, I changed the look. I used my white coat to cover my green tee and a mask to cover the wounds.

Hello. The doctor is ready to see you now.
What? Is there something on my face?

Oh, this? Is it pretty?
No? Well, I guess I'll put my mask on again, then
It took me 30 minutes to finish this look, that's why it's probably a bit messy. I was thinking of doing other Halloween looks, as soon as I find a matte white face paint. I bought the wrong color and the white just looks sparkly on camera. Thanks for reading and as usual....

See you.... in my... next post....

Colorstay

Review : Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup SPF 13

Sunday, October 23, 2011

A few days ago, I went to Watsons to browse what's new in the beauty department. I looked over to Revlon and noticed that they had the new Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup. I have been hearing sooooo many bad reviews on this product and was intrigued on trying it myself. So, I looked at the shades and chose the lightest one which is 'Light'.

Note : I will update pictures of the product. I can't seem to find the files right now. ^^;;

Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup SPF 13

NEW Colorstay Aqua™ Mineral Makeup delivers a burst of hydrating coconut water and an instant cooling sensation upon application. The result: your skin looks luminous and its texture smoother. With a shine-free formula that’s made with water, not oil, this lightweight powder gives you a fresh, flawless finish that lasts all day.

Fragrance free and non-irritating.

Provides medium coverage in 8 beautiful shades, with SPF 13 protection.

Ingredients
Active Ingredient: Titanium Dioxide (3.7%). Non-Medicinal/Other Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Mica, Silica Dimethicone Silylate, Butylene Glycol, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Boron Nitride, Lauroyl Lysine, Sodium Chloride, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Hydrogen Dimethicone, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Water, Viola Tricolor Extract, Methicone, Sodium Polyacrylate, Potassium Sorbate, Diazolidinyl Urea. May Contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499).

How I Use It
I sometimes apply this with the brush provided, a paddle foundation brush or a kabuki brush (for setting all my makeup).

What I Like About It
  • It's readily available in most Revlon counters in Jakarta
  • The brush that comes with it is quite a good quality and makes application easier
  • The powder doesn't accentuate my dry, flaky skin
  • The coverage is sheer but I can layer it until I reached a medium coverage without looking cakey
  • It didn't cause any reactions, i.e acne
  • It did a good job in concealing the redness on my cheeks and brightening my face
  • The powder has fine shimmers, but after blending, it sort of disappeared
  • Upon application, I feel a cooling, liquid sensation as if I'm applying a liquid foundation
What I Hate About It
  • The price tag is quite expensive, retailing Rp 150,000 (prices may vary)
  • The size is bulky and takes much space if travelling
  • It has a particular scent that quite strong when I first applied it, but it fades away soon after
  • I can feel that I'm wearing something on my face, unlike BB creams or tinted moisturizer or any lightweight liquid foundation. I can't quite describe it, but I can feel it 'clinging' on my face
Summary
I recommend this product to :
  • Someone with combination/dry skin type
  • Someone who is fine with sheer coverage and is not bothered to layer the powder
  • Someone who won't mind the fine shimmers
  • Someone who isn't too sensitive with scents

BB Cream

Haul : Maybelline, Skin Food, Masks and Halloween

Friday, October 21, 2011

It's been a long time since I posted something haul-related since my last post is about my holiday in Malang.

I went to Watsons last week because I kinda miss it after a the brief visit to Malang. I browsed the store and picked up two items from Maybelline. I got the double ended mascara and gel eyeliner. I already have the black gel eyeliner, so I got the brown one.
The white part is a base and the other is the mascara
Maybelline Gel Eyeliner in Brown. It retails for Rp 85,000 with the brush

Sorry for the 'dent', I've used it already ^^;;

Different packaging from the US Maybelline gel eyeliner

I prefer the frosted glass though
Since I sell samples or testers of bb cream, I purchased the whole Good Afternoon Series from Skin Food. This is their latest BB cream which has a tea theme, so it's all about fruit-flavored tea, varying from apple cinnamon tea, berry berry tea, etc.

I've already tried the apple cinnamon tea during my trip and I am liking it. I'll probably do a separate review on it, just so it doesn't hog up the space in this post.
Liking the tube since it's very travel friendly

How you like 'em apples? *ba dum dum - lame joke drum sound*

Halloween is coming and I'm thinking of doing some looks for it. So far, I'm just testing the products on my hands, to make sure that I don't have any allergies to the products. Here is a sneak peek on what I'm currently working on. Since this is my first time doing theatrical makeup, it might not look realistic.
Trying it on my hand before applying it on my face. Don't wanna get allergies or even worse, ACNE!!

*whispers* I'm coming for you............ See you in my next post.. *high pitched laughter*

Nichijou : Malang Weekend Trip

Monday, October 17, 2011

I'm sorry for not being able to post a thing or two for the past few days. Thing is I went on a short, weekend trip outside Jakarta for 3 days. I went to Malang, Jawa Timur with my bf, which was kind of an impulse trip. We were casually talking about going to Malang for a weekend getaway and ended up booking tickets on Wednesday.

We thought that it's also about time for us to went there to pay our respects (nyekar) to his dad. The last time we went to Malang was (I think) two or three years ago and we haven't been there since because of Uni and whatnot. So, last weekend, we went there for a short holiday and weekend getaway.

These pictures are taken on the second day because on the first day we just went to the cemetery and run errands for my mom. We went to Coban Rondo (It literally translates to Widow Waterfall) and also went to a few restaurants to try out the cuisine. Well, let's just start with pictures.

We tried the roast ribs that was said to be the best there

I ordered the left and my bf ordered the right

Here is the Roast Ribs, which has a sweet, spicy taste. For me, it was an average tasting ribs.

My bf ordered the Iga Penyet (Translated literally to Smashed Ribs). It was quite hot due to the green chillies, but other than that it was okay.

We also went to Gang Djangkrik. Here is the Siomay Kuah (Fish Cake Soup). It's savory and fresh.

Noodle soup at Gang Djangkrik.

Taken on the way to Batu

At the Coban Rondo gate

This is Coban Rondo, which translates literally to Widow Waterfall

The water is so refreshing! ^^

My bf and I at Coban Rondo

My bf trying to "drink" the waterfall, lol ^^
