Review : Nivea Soft

Tuesday, November 08, 2011

About a month ago, I took a short trip to Malang with my bf, as posted previously. While I was there, I purchased a moisturizer because I forgot to bring my hand cream. I browsed the small mini mart and picked up a small pot of Nivea's moisturizer. I applied it to my hands and arms, even on my bf's face because the skin around his mouth area are a bit dry and flaky. After using it for a month, this is my opinion about the cream.

Nivea Soft

How I Use It

Since I haven't used it on my face, I dipped my fingers in the pot and evenly apply it on my hands, arms and/or legs. However, if I were to use it on my face, I would prefer using a cotton bud to pick some of the product to apply on my face.

What I Like About It
  • It's dirt cheap! The price is around Rp 10,000
  • Since I only use this for moisturizing my body (not face), the jar packaging didn't bother me at all
  • The packaging of the 50 ml jar is compact enough to carry in my bag
  • Looking at the ingredients, it's a very moisturizing cream because of the Glycerin (gives moisture) and Paraffinum Liquidum (locks in the moisture from glycerine)
  • Myristyl Alcohol also helps in providing moisture since it is emollient in nature
  • Dimethicone helps further locks in the moisture without giving a sticky, greasy feeling after application
  • I like how moisturized my skin feels after using this cream
What I Hate About It
  • Although the scent fades a few minutes after application, I still hate the NIVEA scent
  • Despite the claim of containing Vitamin E (Tocopherol Acetate), it is listed as the last ingredient, so I highly doubt that the moisturization I get is from the Vitamin E. Maybe the Vitamin E is also derived from the Jojoba Oil (Simmondsia Chinensis Oil), who knows..
Summary
I would recommend this to :
  • Someone who is looking for an affordable cream for hands, arms and legs
  • Someone who won't mind the scent that NIVEA has

  1. I used to do this amazing mask with Nivea during the summers: you put some Nivea in a bowl and mix it with yogurt and a little lemon juice. You then apply it to the face, leave it for 20 minutes and remove it with a cotton pad. I can't tell you how wonderfully soft and refreshed the skin feels afterwards! But I'm with you on the scent; they could definitely improve it!
