Mini Haul: Rezeki Minimart

Hellooooo, I'm back with another haul, but it's just a mini size one. Since I'm really lazy to write, I'll just show you pictures of them. Yaaaaay~~

I got all this at Rezeki, which is a minimart in my housing complex. It sells Cetaphil as well!!

I'm intrigued to try this since it's only IDR 25,000

It means, a clear rosy face as clear as Afgan's voice on your cell phone. Afgan is a local singer, meh.

In the box, there is a cleanser and cream, which lightens the face.

The texture of the 'cream' is more of a mousse. I think they should consider changing the name to  lightening mousse, instead of cream.

How it looks like spread out

I tried it immediately and used that much amount for my face, which is too much. I think I only need half of that amount. Behind is my polar bear named Snowy ^.~

I also purchased a body scrub from CITRA (a local brand) in Bengkoang scent

It has granules that hurts a little when I overscrubbed :p

How it looks like spread out. See the granules?

I also asked my bestie to get me the new Vivi magz, but  they still don't have the Jan issue. Oh well..
Reason as to why I got ViVi is because I wanted to look for new natural makeup looks and practice my japanese kana reading.

Oh, and my boyfriend got a Korean ice cream, which is soooooo big...

It's a strawberry latte flavor, but my bf says it only tasted like normal strawberry ice cream. Meh.

Phanie's Prized Products: January 2011 Edition

A brand new year with the hopes of greater products to come. Well, let's start off this year with the first monthly favorites from yours truly.

1. Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin in Nude
As you know I'm not a foundation-lover, but there are times when I want that extra coverage and the feel of wearing foundation. I have been using this for the past month and am loving it a lot. I also have another shade in Medium Beige because I just sometimes have a darker skin tone when I'm out and about. I love that this foundation lasts all day (I mean, 8 hours) and gives a matte finish to my oily face. I usually apply this with a damp cosmetic sponge and blend it evenly to my face.

2. TheFaceShop The Flower Loose Powder in NB23
I purchased this a year back and fall in love all over it. I rediscovered this product sitting on the back of my vanity drawer waiting to be used. It has a lot of products in it (25 g) and costs around IDR 250,000. I guess it's way cheaper than my Nature Minerals from TBS which costs IDR 229,000 for 5 grams :0. I know, very expensive. I apply this with my elf Kabuki face brush to achieve that even complexion. It has great oil control and looks really natural on my face. Plus, the packaging is super duper cute!

3. Shills Super Magic BB Cream
I know I'm really late for liking Shills, considering that they have been out in the market for almost a year. Anyway, I really like this BB cream because it has an easy to work with texture, gives an instant brightening effect to my face, and smells like green tea (which I love!). On my lazy days, I just use this and set it with powder.

4. Biore Body Foam in Relaxing Aromatic
I have been using this all month because the smell is just wonderful and it costs IDR 15,000 for the refill! It has a scent combination of Lilly and Jasmine flowers. I love to use at the end of the day after I got home from work, it's like taking a bubble bath. My whole bathroom would smell like flowers. I think it's only sold here in Indonesia, though.

5. TheFaceShop Sake Body Lotion
Another oldie but goodie from TFS. I recently purchase this product because I am just SO IN LOVE with the scent and the moisturizing effect that it has.

6. Revlon Color Burst Lipstick in Blush
The only lipstick I wear this month. It's super moisturizing, cheap (IDR 75,000) and evens out my lip color.

7. The Body Shop Mattifying Day Cream
I use this with my Revlon foundation to make it more matte. It really does what it claims to do. My mom even likes it a lot. That means something from a woman who rarely cares for any makeup/skin care she puts on her face :p

8. Olay Age Defying Series Renewal Lightening Lotion

I found it accidentally and love it ever since. It's moisturizing, has sun protection, and gives a semi matte finish, instead of a greasy and oily feeling.

9. Vivelle After Bath Body Mist Cologne in Amour

Every time I sniff this scent, it immediately reminds me to the time when I use to play tennis a whole lot. It's because my friend would use this every time before practice and I started using it as well. It has a floral feel to it and is really fitting to spritz after a bath. They have other scent selections, most of them being floral scents. I got it at a local supermarket, check it out and they're cheap!

10. The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom eau de toilette
I like japanese cherry blossom otherwise known as sakura. It has a calming, floral scent that has a fresh feeling. Well, you'll have to smell it to know since I suck at describing scents. Oh well, right?

Current Fave: Aqua Timez

Recently, I am in love with a Japanese band named Aqua Timez. There are five people in this band and I am absolutely in love with the guitarist!!! His name is Daisuke and he looks really cool playing the guitar. Wow, as I'm typing this I feel like a kid again. It's been a while since I am in love with a band...

I also like the vocalist that has a funny voice but the more I hear it the more I like it. Sorry for the incorrect punctuations in this post, I'm just about to sleep, but decided to write a blog anyway. So, check out the band!!

This one is called Mayonaka no Orchestra and has been Naruto Shippuden's ending. It has a very lively note.

This one is Gravity 0 and was used as Star Driver's first opening. The song has a very energetic feel to it.

This is the first song that dragged me into the Aqua Timez mood. This one is called Alones and has been Bleach's opening.

This has been in my playlist for the last few days, it's called Shiori and has a very easy listening tune. It tells a story about a couple who always meet in the evening under the clock. I loveeeeeee the tune!!

The last song is called Honto Wa Ne. The tune is just right to wake me up in the morning and get into the mood to work. ^.^

That's all I want to share for today. Sorry I've been lacking in product reviews, I hope you'll understand. Enjoy, listening to Aqua Timez!

Review: Revlon Colorstay Foundation for Combination/Oily Skin

ColorStay™ Makeup with SoftFlex™ provides lightweight comfort, so you feel like you’re not wearing makeup. Looks fresh for up to 16 hours.

How I Use It
I use a cosmetic sponge to apply a 3 cm diameter of product to my whole face. However, sometimes I would mix this with my Olay Age Defying Moisturizer and apply it as a tinted moisturizer.

What I Like About It
  • It's quite a reasonable price (IDR 110,000)  for a 30 ml foundation. I got mine at Star Department Store Kelapa Gading Mall.
  • It'd readily available at most Revlon counters all over Jakarta
  • There are a wide range of shades ranging from lightest to darkest. I bought 2 shades Medium Beige (for normal/dry skin) and Nude (Combination/Oily Skin)
  • It feels lightweight on my face, like I'm not wearing anythig
  • The finish look is a semi matte finish (Normal/dry skin), instead of a dewy glow and matte (combination/oily skin)
  • It didn't break me out!
  • The shade matches my skin tone perfectly
  • It has a medium coverage that covers most of my acne scars beautifully
  • It lasts for around 8 hours
What I Hate About It
  • It does not have a pump. You have to be careful of product spillage or waste
  • Can be quite hard to blend since it dries faster than other foundations. When I'm having one of those days where I'm very lazy to deal with the fast drying, I usually mix it with moisturizer to thin it out
  • It can be hard to remove with cleansing wipes. I usually use a cleansing oil and that removes every bit of foundation on my face.

This is one of the very few liquid foundations that will always be my favorite. It is a really worthy drugstore product as it is cheap, but offers a wide range of shades. So, if you're looking for a new foundation to try, look this up at your local Revlon counter.
Medium Beige for when I'm darker, Nude for my original skin tone

UPDATE : Currently, I'm using the mixture between Nude and Sand Beige. Sometimes, even Sand Beige on its own. I gave Medium Beige to my mom since it's beginning to get too dark for my face.

Review: Garnier Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream

Garnier has been found in drugstores all over Indonesia ever since a few years ago. It has quite a good reputation, but only limited products are available here. Those products are whitening/lightening products and acne-combating products.

I first tried Garnier's 24 hours whitening cream that comes in two squeeze tubes, yellow (day time use) and blue (night time use). I was excited when I saw this earlier in 2010 because it promises overnight whitening, which I sometimes need after a day out in the sun. I need to look brighter the next morning to look fresh. Recently, I've started using this again because I was trying to wean off Retin-A for a month, but I wanted to stay light. I remembered that I never post a review on this product, so here it is.

Garnier Overnight Whitening Peeling Cream
How I Use It
With clean fingers, I apply evenly all over my face before bedtime.

What I Like About It
  • It retails at IDR 60,000 (est). *UPDATE : Now available in small tube size, at a cheaper price!*
  • It's available in most supermarket and drugstores in Jakarta
  • It feels really light on my face when applied
  • It doesn't take time to sink in and be absorbed
  • It didn't break me out
  • It really does whiten my face to a shade lighter!!
What I Hate About It
  • It's packaged in a jar container that makes it really unhygienic to dip my fingers back and forth when needing to apply the cream
  • It has a strong scent of lemons that might be troublesome for people with sensitive noses
It is a nice shortcut to having a lighter skin tone, if you are not sensitive to scents. This product reeks of lemon, in a STRONG way. Some literature say that lemon oil is bad for the skin, others say otherwise. So, while it's still debated on the benefits, I would use this if i wanted to have my face look lighter at the end of the week for a big event or something.

Review: Shills Super Magic BB Cream

Another BB cream to try and this time it's from Shills. It's my first Shills product I purchased because when it first came out, there weren't enough reviews to encourage me to buy it. Shills is a company from Taiwan that has an almost similar packaging to Benefit cosmetics. Some of the products that are similar are Electric Eye Concealer, Close To You, BB Flawless Record Powder Foundation and many more.

See how they look similar to Benefit in packaging?
I went ahead and got the Super Magic BB Cream because it's one of their first products launched about a year ago. I ordered it from Cupcalicious at a reasonable price for a ready stock item. I seriously hate pre-ordering items, they usually come a month after the purchase. I can't possibly wait that long. So, without further ado, here is the review.

Shills Super Magic BB Cream

  • Recommended by Taiwan Variety Show 女人我最大 QUEEN!
  • Product: 6 in 1 BB cream. UV protection, skin whitening, oil control, moisturizer, concealer, makeup base all in one. UV protection ingredient included.
  • Contain ginkgo extract, vitamin C and other whitening agent to brighten skin.
  • Green tea extract to control excess oil.
  • Hyaluronic acid and jojoba to moisturize.
  • It doesn't clog pores and is suitable for sensitive skin.
  • Highly used by Korean Actress to create perfect nude look.
  • BB cream is initials for Blemish Balm Cream. It is originally created by German physician intended for sensitive skin patient.
  • Used after Morning skin care routine. Apply like foundation.

How I Use It
I squeeze a 1 cm diameter onto the tip of my right middle finger and apply it on the center of my face. I will add another 1 cm diameter of product if I feel I have super dull skin that day.

What I Like About It
  • The price is affordable, retailing at IDR 135,000 for 50 ml product
  • The packaging is hygienic since it has a squeeze tube and flip cap, instead of being in a jar
  • It has quite a strong scent of green tea, so, to those sensitive to scents, be careful~ I like it, though ^.^
  • It's easy to blend
  • Texture is almost like a lotion
  • It did NOT break me out, yay!
  • It has a semi matte finish
  • It does NOT oxidize into a gray cast
  • The shade matches my face wonderfully
  • Oil control is good. I need to blot at 11 a.m., after applying this at 7 a.m.

What I Hate About It
  • It's not readily available because sometimes I have to pre-order it
  • The tube itself feels cheap because the plastic feels really thin
  • People with shade medium-dark are unable to use this
  • I can't find the English version of the list of ingredients on the box

If your shade is fair-light, then this might be a match for you. Since it claims to have ginko and green tea extracts, I would assume that it would be a good product to use as it conceals redness and heals skin at the same time. It's also great for people first starting with BB creams as this is easy to blend and doesn't oxidize as much as others.

Worthy Drugstore Find: Olay Age Defying Series Renewal Lightening Lotion SPF 15

Olay has been one of the best drugstore brands in terms of moisturizers. I have been trying out various drugstore moisturizers starting from L'oreal, Himalaya Herbals, to Ponds. I haven't been in LOVE with Olay's Total Effects because it feels really sticky on my face, but liked Olay White Radiance that I've mentioned in my previous blog posts.

I was browsing through the alleys in the supermarket at Kelapa Gading Mall when I stumbled on this product. I looked at the packaging because if it was in a jar, I would have to think twice about purchasing it. This product has two textures, lotion and cream (which is, of course, in a jar). I picked the lotion formula because cream formulas tend to break me out. This retails at IDR 90,000 (est.) at Farmer's Market Kelapa Gading Mall.

I tried it out the next day and applied it before I put on my BB cream and whatnot. I thought it was going to have a greasy finish since my skin type is combination/oily, but it's not. The finish is beautiful, just what I needed, a semi matte finish that feels really light on my face.  It gets absorbed quicker compared to Olay White Radiance.

It has chemical sunscreens to protect from UV rays. However, it doesn't say how much it will protect from UVA rays since the PhotoAging factor is not listed on the product. It has, however, an SPF of 15 (from Titanium Dioxide) which will reflect around 97% of UVB rays.

This product contains salicylic acid which is beneficial in chemically exfoliating and sloughing off the dead skin cells off of our face. However, it does not state the exact amount of SA in the product, so I don't know about exfoliating as of yet.
To summarize, I think this product is great for people with combination skin type as it hydrates most of the dehydrated part and won't make the T-Zone greasy. I used this for a week and skin is now softer than before. It's like I'm using Clinique's Turn around Concentrate. I think this will go into my favorites this month.

Review: Baviphat Island Girls BB Primer Fix

Makeup primers have been a staple in my makeup routine ever since I've known Smashbox's oil free foundation primer. I feel that the foundation blends easier onto my face and stays put for longer period of time. I saw a primer from Baviphat and decided to give it a try.

I purchased the sample from Cupcalicious for IDR 29,000 because I was afraid it wasn't gonna work beautifully and that it would be a waste of money if I were to buy the full size. The sample size comes in a small squeeze tube with a twist cap. I don't see any ingredients list on the back of the tube, it's probably written on the full size tube.

The consistency of the product looks creamy, but once blended it has a watery texture that soaks right into the skin. The color of the primer looks slightly pink and glowy, but it turns to a transparent glow once evened out on the skin. It gives a beautiful, radiant glow to my face without looking like an oil slick.

It dries to a wonderful satin finish, with only a hint of glow on my cheeks. It's not super matte, like my Smashbox photo finish. It preps my face before applying any BB cream or foundation.  It is suitable to use before BB creams that has a thick consistency and hard to blend. Today, I use this before applying SKIN79 Diamond Prestige BB, which is sometimes a little hard to blend because it dries faster than my other BB creams. To my surprise, it's super easy to blend after using this primer!!

The scent is kinda like the perfume of an old lady. I'm really bad at describing scents, but it smells almost musky, sort of. It doesn't really bother me, but it would be better if there's no scent.

All in all, I really think this is a good primer for people wanting to have that radiant glow from within, if that makes any sense at all. I love the finish and would probably repurchase the full size one once this runs out.

Review: The Body Shop Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream

I once read that you can't really hide your age by the appearance of you hands. People often forget how important it is to take care of your hands, moisturizing and exfoliating them to keep them looking 'young'. Well, hand creams are a must for every skin care addict like myself, so I went out looking for a good one.

I stumbled on this hand cream, I think, on the midst of 2010. I would say around July-August-ish, but had not been using this because I just simply forgot about it. Plus, I still have my Etude House Hand Bouquet hand cream, so I just put this at the back of my drawer until recently. I reached for it because I ran out of the EH hand cream and not wanting to purchase a new one. After I've used it for a month, here's my take on it.

The Body Shop Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream

"Softens and moisturizes. Infused with angelica extract and Community Trade organic olive oil. All Skin Types. "

How I Use It
I squeeze a pea-sized amount ( 1 cm diameter) onto my hands and rubbed them together as if washing my hands. I apply this after I wash my hands.

What I Like About It
  • It's available locally at most TBS stores
  • The price is quite cheap, retailing at IDR 59,000 for a 75 ml tube. I only use a small amount and it has only reduced a quarter of the tube for a month!
  • The size is quite small, 14 cm x 5 cm, makes it easy to carry around in my bag
  • It has a nice packaging with a flip cap and squeeze tube, making it a lot easier to dispense the product
  • The cream has thick texture
  • It dries quickly and leaves a non-greasy feeling. I can immediately write without my pen slipping through my fingers.
What I Hate About It
  • Not a big fan of the scent. It smells weird :s
If you're new to hand creams, this would be a good one to start your journey on seeking the 'holy grail' hand cream. It gives a very moisturized and non-greasy feeling at the same time. More like a matte finish, if I may say so.

Review: Etude House Collagen Moistfull Essence-In Foundation SPF 22/PA++

I'm not really a foundie-type-of-girl because it feels really thick and if used in a rush, it tends to give a cakey finish. I like tinted moisturizers of BB creams better than foundations for every day use. However, I discovered this product from Etude House and have been using it daily ever since.

Etude House Collagen Moistfull Essence-In Foundation #2 Natural Beige
Moistfull Collagen Essence-In Foundation is an essence infused moist foundation that supplies enduring coverage and collagen to strengthen derma integrity and improve look.

How I Use It
I squirt two pumps on the back of my hand. With a cosmetic sponge, I dab it on my face and blend evenly.

What I Like About It
  • The packaging is so lovely and adorable, with a theme of purple and light pink color. I can't resist it!
  • It has a pump which makes it really easy to dispense the correct amount of product.
  • Texture is slightly watery, like a lotion, which makes the product so easy to blend.
  • It feels like a tinted moisturizer, but has coverage like a foundation.
  • There is a slight hint of floral scent, but it goes away almost immediately after blended.
  • The shade matches me perfectly! It's not too ghastly white nor is it too dark for me!
  • It doesn't accentuate my dry patches on the edge of my nose and mouth
  • It gives a natural semi matte finish that doesn't make my face look dull because of the matte-ness~
  • Doesn't break me out~!

What I Hate About It
  • The price is unreasonably expensive if it's purchased in the EH counters at the mall compared to buying them online. >.<
  • There's only two shades as it is an Asian brand where shade selection is very very limited
I highly recommend this to people with dry to normal skin because this will give enough moisture to hide those dry, flaky skin. I would definitely rethink if I have oily skin, as this will probably give excess moisture to an already oily skin.

Shade #2 Natural Beige
Spread thinly over
Blended beautifully into my skin!
If you want a natural looking, lightweight foundation with medium coverage, then this is the product for you!
